· Teaching: all levels of beginning French and the following upper-division courses: Civilization and Literature (Middle Ages through 17th century), Civilization and Literature (18th century through the present), Advanced Conversation, Methods of Teaching Foreign Languages to students seeking certification to teach languages in the public schools (the majority of which students were graduate MAT students), Twentieth-Century French Literature. Organized 2006 Summer abroad program to the Université d’Angers for students at UCM, Missouri Western State University, and Southeast Missouri State University.

· Service to department and university: Faculty mentor to French club; activities include: weekly meetings at the student union, occasional French Movie Night, visit to a local winery, Fondue night at a local restaurant. Served on Dean’s Advisory Council. Academic advisor to French majors and minors. Contact person with the Admissions Office to meet with incoming students wishing to major in French. Attended American Council of the Teaching of Foreign Languages (ACTFL) information session on Oral Performance Interviews in Nashville, TN. Member of College Curriculum Committee. Organize cadre of French tutors available to all French students.

· Scholarship: Forthcoming book by the Edwin Mellen Press—An Intertextual Study of the Livre du Cuer d’Amours espris by Fifteenth-Century French Author René d’Anjou. Collaborating with philosophy professor on an English translation of the French correspondance in Miscellaneous Works of Edward Gibbon. Presented a paper on René d’Anjou at the South Atlantic Modern Language Association (SAMLA) convention in November, 2007. Chaired session of International Courtly Literature Society at 2006 Convention of SAMLA in Charlotte, NC.

· Conducted field trips for astronomy students to the observatory at Appalachian State University.

· Hosted evening sessions of star gazing for students on the Western Piedmont campus and for the general public in conjunction with the rangers at Lake Charles State Park in Marion, NC
