MINUTES FOR DPHD PHONE CONFERENCE

Finance Committee
We need to find ways to bring in money. We need to set up Finance committee. We now have non-profit status and will set up website situation for receiving donations.
Officer/Committee reports
President: Mari Beth will update all documents and website to reflect the new name, DPHMD.
Acting Treasurer: DPHMD will be receiving $6868.00 more from the Goldsmith account. As of October we have received a total of $20,000.00
New Business
Transfer of leadership roles:
Results of election held in October: Lisa Pufpaff is the new vice president. Margaret (Meg) Cooper is the new treasurer. Welcome Lisa and Meg!
Will create Email group with list of new leadership (See below)
Blanche will participate in monthly or bi-monthly phone calls from Interdivisional Caucus.
Membership:
John receives a breakdown of total membership from CEC. CEC is down overall 6%; DPHMD is down 8.67%. DPHMD is the 4th smallest division in CEC and is holding our own. No Division had an increase in membership this year. CEC has a total of 34876 members this year. To get lapsed memberships we must ask for lapsed member list from CEC and send out reminders to lapsed members. CEC has a total of 474 student membership. DPHMD has a total of 66 student membership. We need to increase student membership and to include more universities. We need to continue to make the newsletter a good resource for new teachers and student teachers. We could put student “research” in the newsletter. Perhaps we could add a highlighted section in the newsletter for students.
CEC members cannot join any Division except during CEC renewal time! We must contact Anna regarding this issue.
Communication Options for Phone conferences next year:
Using Skype to call landlines costs $3.00 per month. Blanche has no other resources at her university. Could DPHMD pay for headphones for web-based conference calls? Could DPHMD cover for Skype? If everyone had a microphone for the computer, Skype would be free.
The next conference call needs to be the end of January or the first of February. Up until the convention, a monthly call will suffice.
