16.00 / Take an hour off / Take hour or two off. Get exercise, chat to friends but don’t allow yourself to become nervous by others / The more you practice sample exam questions, the more familiar you will be with the exam situation and how to form your knowledge into a coherent whole, and get it down on paper.
17.00 / Try another subject, or another exam question, or re-read to fill in memory gaps / DO NOT TRY TO LEARN OFF BY HEART; IF YOU REWRITE IN YOUR OWN WORDS YOU HAVE SOME CHANCE OF REMEMBERING. LEARNING OFF BY HEART USUALLY DOESN’T WORK.
18.00 / Dinner / Dinner / Try to eat a healthy diet, take exercise, and time for relaxation. Worrying will not help to increase your exam marks. An unhealthy diet, or irregular mealtimes will make you less able to concentrate. You need to keep very regular hours, so that your body will be accumtomed to getting up early and going to sleep on time during the exams.
19.00 / Exercise, relaxation / Have a look at last examination
Repeat read recall etc / Try to cut down on, or cut out, alcohol and drugs (unless prescribed by your doctor). Alcohol affects your memory and concentration; cannibas has severe effects on your memory.
20.00 / Extra study if you need it
Plan tomorrow’s work / Extra study or plan for tomorrow / Prescription drugs, such as tranquilisers, are advisable ONLY IN extreme cases of anxiety, AND CAN AFFECT YOUR RECALL AND EXAM PERFORMANCE. FOLLOW YOUR GP’S ADVICE. the best method for reducing exam anxiety is preparation, a regular schedule of revision, diet, lifestyle, adequate sleep and relaxation.
21.00 / Take night off and go to bed early / Exercise, watch TV, bath ETC / SEEK MEDICAL ADVICE IF YOU USE LARGE AMOUNTS OF ALCOHOL OR ILLEGAL SUBSTANCES.
22.00 / Go to bed early / DO NOT STAY UP CRAMMING THE NIGHT BEFORE THE EXAM. TAKE SHORT NOTES, TRY TO SLEEP AND HOPE FOR THE BEST.
Good Luck,
Sandra
