Dear Parents and Guardians of Annette St PS and High Park Alternative PS.,
Here are 2 important messages:
Please remember if you are driving to schoolto drop off students in Grades1-8 to please use our Parent Safety Program (PSP) drop off location on Clendenan Ave. There is room for 2 cars to pull up and drop students off safely and there is a parent and students there each morning to help our younger students into the school yard safely. Please do not pull ahead of the drop off zone to let students out. We know it can get busy in the mornings, so plan accordingly. An extra few minutes and your patience, are needed to ensure everyone arrives safely. Parking is extremely limited around the school so please walk if at all possible!
A few important reminders:
3 point turns in the school zone are extremely dangerous and illegal!
The lower parking lot on Jennings is for TDSB staff only between 7:30 am and 6:00 pm and the upper parking lot is for Parks and Recreation Staff and patrons.
Please pay attention to the posted parking signs. There is no parking at any time on the west side of Clendenan, north of Jennings at any time. Many parents have been parking there to pick up students after school. This is not permitted and causes congestion along the street making it unsafe.
We understand that not all parents/guardians can walk to school and that there are challenges getting everyone ready and out the door in the morning. We cannot stress enough the importance of taking the extra time needed in the morning to get to school safely and to start the day calmly. What is more important than the safety and well-being of our kids?
The second reminder is that students bringing personal electronicsof any kind to school are being asked to power them off when they get on to school groundsand not to power them on until they have left school grounds at the end of the day. Students can store them in their lockers, keep them in their backpacks or ask their teacher or the office to lock them away for them. We cannot be responsible for lost or stolen personal items, and at this time personal electronic devices are not being permitted to be used during the school day. Unfortunately we have had an increase in inappropriate on-line conduct both during and after school hours. If you need to reach your child during the school day, please call the office. Senior students may take electronics with them if they leave school property during lunch.
We will be inviting parents to a screening of the documentary ‘Screenagers’ at Humberside Collegiate on April 12th at 7:00 pm. We hope you will be able to come out. It will hopefully help facilitate discussions with your family around boundaries and guidelines for positive technology use. Thanks for working with us to keep our school community safe.
