2011 MHPB Coaching Clinic Requirements
Introduction
Morgan Hill Pony Baseball is proud to offer the following Coaching Clinics as part of the managerial requirements for the 2011 season. First, we would thank you for volunteering your time to the families and children in the Morgan Hill community. It is our goal to ensure that all kids enjoy a positive baseball experience encompassing fun and education through baseball. We understand that your time is valuable and hope that the required clinics provide you with the necessary tools to educate our young players and provide them with a positive baseball experience.
Overview
For the Spring 2011 season, all managers are required to attend 2 clinics. Managers are required to attend one “classroom setting” clinic hosted at Live Oak or Ann Sobrato. Due to the popular request for pitching only clinics, we have added a 5th clinic focusing just on pitching. Therefore, the second requirement can now be fulfilled by attending either a “field setting” or the pitching only clinic. Please be sure to sign in when you attend to make sure you receive credit for fulfilling the requirements.
Description
Classroom: In the classroom setting coaches can expect information regarding practice planning, infield, outfield, hitting, throwing, and other general coaching strategies. The intentions are for coaches to receive information regarding basic fundamentals of the game. We encourage all coaches to bring pen and paper and not hesitate to ask questions.
Field: The field presentations are a follow up to information presented in the classroom setting. We will deliver visual demonstrations of the information presented by our speakers. You can anticipate interactive demonstrations, including yourselves, which provide thorough visual examples of drills we hope you utilize in your practices.
Pitching: Morgan Hill Pony Baseball is proud to host Cal State University Monterey Bay recruiting coordinator and pitching coach, Erik Wagle. Coach Wagle joined the Otters after two seasons at San Jose City College where his staff broke the school record for Earned Run Average, placed in the Top 5 in Northern California in consecutive seasons, and all signed Division I or II scholarships. Prior to SJCC, Wagle was pitching coach at Live Oak High School for five seasons where Acorn pitching staffs led the league in ERA 4 of 5 seasons and won a CCS championship in 2008. As a player at San Jose City College, Wagle was a first team All American and current record holder for saves in a season. In 2003 he led Sonoma State University to a CCAA championship and No. 4 national ranking. Wagle also serves as an associate scout for the Washington Nationals. MHPB is very excited for the opportunity to present collegiate level expertise for the benefit of it’s young players.
