GREETINGS, I hope everyone made it through the storm. I spoke with our Junior Warden, Kenny Adkins, who said he had a lot of damage at his residence but felt fortunate when he looked at houses around his. Our thoughts and prayers go out to all who were impacted by the storm. Let’s hope spring 2012 doesn’t continue in this same direction.
As for lodge events in March, we will have our regular stated communications on the 13th and 27th both starting at 7:00 PM. As announced in last month’s Trestle Board, the Order of the Eastern Star will be hosting (honor the Mason’s) night on March 27th at 6:00 PM with our regular stated communication to follow. For those of you who have not attended a dinner prepared by the O.E.S, they do a GREAT SPREAD so bring your family! We will be having a 3rd Degree on the 20th; the Junior Warden advises fried chicken, mashed potatoes & gravy will be served.

Brethren, I want to remind you again that there are still nineteen brothers who have not paid their dues for 2012. If your dues are not paid within the next several weeks, you will be suspended, not only from the Blue Lodge, but from all other Masonic bodies.

The new sword being used by the Tyler is a Knights-Templar-Grand Lodge of Texas ceremonial sword gifted to the lodge by Chuck Stone of Kimberling City. Chuck is not a Mason but his grandfather, father and uncle were. As a child, Chuck says he used to play with the sword at his uncle’s law office in Woodbury, TN and was given the sword in the 1970’s. He gifted it to the lodge January, 2012 via Chuck Pittman.
The sword was made by a Samuel Hale Jennings about 1920 by the Henderson-Ames Co. Brother Jennings was born in 1876 in Triplett, MO northeast of Kansas City. He and his family moved to Ft. Worth, TX area where he initiated an Entered Apprentice April, 1918, passed to Fellow craft May, 1918 and raised to Master Mason in June 1918 at Julian Field Lodge No. 908. He entered the York Rite, Texas Chapter 362, Royal Arch Masons, Tarrant County, TX, passed through the degrees in August, 1918 and was “greeted” in Texas Council No. 321, Royal & Select Masons in November, 1919. Brother Jennings passed away October, 1927 in Ft. Worth.
The sword carries the distinctive Texas Star in the center of the cross-guard and, on the reverse of the blade, a medieval knight and Saracen warrior doing battle. The scabbard has the Knights Templar emblem as part of the middle decoration
