August – November

____Review Portfolio w/Guidance Counselor

____ Prepare or update a resume that can be altered to suit scholarship purposes.

____Keep all documents from colleges/military/workforce

____Memorize Social Security #

____Plan College Visits

____Early Application to Universities

____Visit with College Rep’s @ WRHS

____Check WRHS Monthly Scholarship Update. Be sure to know scholarship deadlines.

____Register for ACT Test (if you would like a higher score)

____Request 3 Letters of Recommendation for Scholarships

·  Request letters early! Teachers/staff may have several to write, so give them plenty of time to do a good job on yours.

·  You may want to give them a copy of your resume. This will help with the content of your letter.

____Athletes –register with NCAA Clearing House, NAIA, etc. *See Mrs. Mason for websites.

____E-mail address needs to be professional (not cute, funny,etc)

December-February

____FAFSA (Free Application for Student Aid) **THIS IS IMPORTANT**

·  www.fafsa.ed.gov *Free service- do NOT send money

·  *Obtain FAFSA Pin # *Keep Pin # in a safe place

·  Cannot be completed until after January 1st

·  Make sure you meet your college’s priority deadline for financial aid.

____ Attend FAFSA and Financial Aid Workshops (dates yet to be determined)

____Apply to at least 3 colleges (Some WY Community Colleges have free applications)

·  Check on housing to see when you need to send housing deposits.

____Fill out transcript request & return to Ms. Kisling

____Check WRHS Monthly Scholarship Update

____Select College/Military/Workforce for best opportunities

____Apply for scholarships at the colleges where you have been admitted

____Dorm application for selected college

___ All males 18, sign up for selective service

____Register for ACT Test (if you would like a higher score)

March-June

___Select College/Military Service/Workforce

___Notify schools you will not attend of your decision

___Check WRHS Monthly Scholarship Update

___Fill out final transcript request for WRHS- turn into Ms. Kisling

___Request a transcript from all colleges where you have earned credit.
