Seventh and Eighth Keyboarding Course Requirements

INTRODUCTION
PERFORMANCE OBJECTIVES
Students will be able to: (All Grades)
v Use correct fingering and posture at all times when keying letters and numbers
v Use touch techniques (quiet typing).
v Demonstrate a speed 35 wpm – seventh (7th) and 45 wpm eighth (8th)
v Demonstrate proper use of the computer, scanner and printer
v Follow oral and written directions
v Use basic keyboarding vocabulary
v Use Micro Type for drills to increase speed and accuracy. Speed tests are given in this program.
v Use rules for punctuation, grammar, spelling, number expression, word division, capitalization, and spacing.
v Use safety rules at all times to avoid accidents, especially when handling computer hardware.
v Edit copy using proofreaders’ marks
v Format and create business letters, memos, personal notes, reports and tables, (Microsoft Office)
v Design a PowerPoint Presentation in Microsoft PowerPoint
v Format a table in Microsoft Excel
v Develop research skills using the Internet

GENERAL REQUIREMENTS
v Students are responsible for all classwork and/or homework assigned.
v Students are required to take all tests and/or quizzes.
v Students are required to make up all work missed when absent.
v Students are required to follow all class rules, class procedures and school rules.

BASIC KEYBOARDING TECHNIQUES
· Sit up straight (with back against the chair
· Proper palms/wrist position (upward, not touching table or keyboard)
· Eyes on copy (in book or monitor)
· Both hands curved over home keys
· (asdf jkl;) use correct fingering when keying letters and numbers
· Feet flat on floor (not crossed or resting on bar beneath the table / A------93 – 100
