Purpose Statement
Supporting the Finance Controller, this role will assist with the monthly multi-centre management account production utilising IRIS Exchequer accounting and excel software. The role will also involve supporting team members in updating and maintaining the integrity of both the sales ledger and purchase ledger functions, ensuring periods of absence are appropriately covered and assisting in busy periods, as well as other areas such as balance sheet reconciliation and VAT.
Main responsibilities
1 / Support for the preparation of the monthly accounts. Ensuring they are delivered to the highest standard using best practice processes
2 / Updating and maintaining the integrity of the Sales Ledger, when required.
3 / Updating and maintaining the integrity of the Purchase Ledger, when required.
4 / Undertaking balance sheet reconciliation
5 / Effectively maintains and manages budgets and forecasts within internal systems.
6 / Provide cost-centre reports to Managers, ensuring the data is accurate and easy to understand for non-finance employees.
7 / Operates in a diligent and organised fashion to plan own workload and achieve SLA and KPI’s, ensuring deadlines are met. Takes control of SLAs and KPIs.
8 / Adheres to business processes to ensure you are working in a consistent, methodical and productive manner and providing feedback for areas which require improvement.
9 / Acts as an escalation point and point of expertise on specific learning and development queries in the accounting department.
10 / Takes steps to foster own professional development, including undertaking relevant training and implementing the learning as appropriate to ensure achievement of personal, departmental and organisational objectives
11 / Develops excellent working relationships with centre and regional managers.
12 / Undertakes any other duties commensurate with the grade of the post or lower grade as directed by line manager.
Person Specification / Essential:
- AAT/ACCA part/fully qualified
- Demonstrable work experience in a similar role
- Good understanding of accounting standards
- Strong technical accounting background
- Experience of supporting a finance team
- Ability to explain finance information to non-finance managers
- Proactive, logical approach to information analysis and problem solving
- Works independently
- Good knowledge of accounting systems
- Proficient in the use of MS Excel
- Flexibility to assist the finance team as required
- Experience of managing multi-site accounting
- Experience of working with IRIS accounting software

Experience of Accounts software packages.
Ability to provide clear and constructive oral and written communication with all stakeholders ensuring appropriate context and clarity are provided. / Experience of working in a similar organisation (e.g. serviced offices).
