Student Council Vote of no Confidence (SCF5)
Student Council has the power to submit motions of no-confidence in an elected Officer and/or Representative.
1. This Council Notes
State the facts surrounding the issue
Olaide Abiodun (BME officer) has failed to attend any student council meeting or submit any report since his appointment; he has also only attended 1 exec meeting since the start of the role.
2. This Council Believes
State what the views around the issue are
Since the appointment of Olaide Abiodun there has been very little evidence that he is active in the role of BME officer. No council meeting has been attended nor a report submitted, apologies have not been sent. One exec meeting was attended at the start of the year but no contribution has been made since. Olaide is also not active on any form of social media and doesn’t contribute to discussion on either councilor or exec pages. In addition to this a large campaign “Black history month” came and went without much involvement, something that should be a large priority to a BME officer.
3. This Council Resolves
Explain why you think a vote of censure or no confidence is appropriate
That although there will not be time for a BME officer to be re-elected for the coming year, it may be prudent for a vote of no confidence in the BME officer. This prevents people attempting to contact a member of exec who isn’t active, making the SU look like its less engaging in its service. It would also effect the quoracy of council, having an inactive seat at every council meeting.
