Morning Routine

  • School begins at 9:05
  • Students check in and unpack
  • Morning Reporters
  • Daily Edit

Integrated Language Arts

  • Five themes required
  • Each theme includes:
  • Read Aloud / Guided Reading Stories
  • Vocabulary list
  • Spelling list
  • Grammar
  • Theme celebrations / Reader’s Theater
  • Weekly Tests / Theme tests
  • Writing projects

Spelling

  • Five day cycle
  • 20 spelling words per list
  • Practice test given and signed by a parent the night before the test
  • Test corrections for homework:
  • Misspelled words written 10 times each
  • Test signed by a parent and returned

Handwriting

  • Zaner Bloser method
  • Work completed in cursive by the end of January
  • Practice worksheet for homework

Social Studies

  • Mrs. Holmes and Ms. Gulliford teach social studies
  • Group projects in class
  • Homework packet
  • Chapter tests

Science

  • Mr. Keffer and Ms. Gulliford teach science
  • Earth’s Resources, Roles of Living Things
  • Quizzes and tests

Math

  • Mad Minutes for addition, subtraction, and multiplication facts
  • Multiplication facts will be introduced through 12
  • Home Link page is usually homework
  • Critical Thinking and Performance Tasks.
  • Quizzes and tests must be signed and returned
  • Computers- 15 minutes each day to reinforce skills taught in class
  • EDM games are now online

Homework

  • Read 15 minutes each night / parent signs reading log
  • Assignment book must be signed each night
  • Folder system

Snack

  • Water bottles
  • No food allowed in classrooms due to allergies

Birthdays

  • Cupcakes, brownies cookies, or anything already in individual pieces that is easy to hand out. Treats shared with homeroom only.

Book Orders

  • Forms sent out monthly
  • Please pay by check made out to the book club

Friday Folders

  • White envelope sent home on Friday with weekly work.
  • Sign and return the empty envelope.

Field Trip

  • To be determined

Kinder Partners

  • Meet twice a month
  • Planned activity

Recess

  • 2:20-2:50
  • Incomplete homework and assignments will be completed during recess

Lunch

  • 11:05-11:35
  • Meal tickets may be purchased on Monday
  • The cafeteria will not heat food

  • Monday-Friday from 12:45-1:15
