CALL TO WORSHIP Psalm33:1-5

PRAYER OF ADORATION

HYMNS OF ADORATION Come People of the Risen King

Music and Lyrics: Keith and Kristyn Getty; Stuart Townend

Come, people of the Risen King,

Who delight to bring Him praise;

Come all and tune your hearts to sing

To the Morning Star of grace.

From the shifting shadows of the earth

We will lift our eyes to Him,

Where steady arms of mercy reach

To gather children in.

Chorus:

Rejoice, Rejoice! Let every tongue rejoice!

One heart, one voice; O Church of Christ, rejoice!

Come, those whose joy is morning sun,

And those weeping through the night;

Come, those who tell of battles won,

And those struggling in the fight.

For His perfect love will never change,

And His mercies never cease,

But follow us through all our days

With the certain hope of peace.(Chorus)

Come, young and old from every land -

Men and women of the faith;

Come, those with full or empty hands -

Find the riches of His grace.

Over all the world, His people sing -

Shore to shore we hear them call

The Truth that cries through every age:

“Our God is all in all” (Chorus)

Come Thou Fount of Every Blessing

Come Thou Fount of every blessing, tune my heart to sing Thy grace;

Streams of mercy, never ceasing, call for songs of loudest praise,

Teach me some melodious sonnet, sung by flaming tongues above.

Praise the mount! I'm fixed upon it, mount of God's unchanging love.

Here I raise my Ebenezer; hither by Thy help I'm come;

And I hope, by Thy good pleasure, safely to arrive at home.

Jesus sought me when a stranger, wandering from the fold of God;

He, to rescue me from danger, interposed His precious blood.

O to grace how great a debtor, daily I'm constrained to be!

Let that grace now like a fetter, bind my wandering heart to Thee.

Prone to wander, Lord, I feel it, prone to leave the God I love;

Here's my heart, O take and seal it, seal it for Thy courts above.

On that day when freed from sinning, I shall see Thy lovely face;

Clothed then in blood-washed linen, how I’ll sing Thy sovereign grace;

Come, my Lord, no longer tarry, take my ransomed soul away;

Send thine angels now to carry, me to realms of endless day.

CONFESSION OF SIN

Father, we confess that we are prone to discouragement. Our world is dark, our enemies seem to outnumber us, and our own hearts are not well. Often we do not handle the discouragement well; we grumble and complain, we lash out at others, we want heaven on earth, and we do not live by faith. Forgive us, Father, because of your Son, Jesus. And help us by your Spirit to receive the encouragement of your Word and your work of grace in our lives. Remind us that your Kingdom will not fail. Through Christ, we pray, amen.

SILENT CONFESSION OF SIN

ASSURANCE OF PARDON 2 Corinthians 1:5

HYMN OF PARDON Jesus, Lover of My Soul

Music: Greg Thompson

Jesus, lover of my soul,

Let me to Thy bosom fly,

While the nearer waters roll,

While the tempest still is high.

Hide me, O my Savior, hide,

‘Til life’s storm is past;

Safe into the haven guide;

Receive my soul at last.

Other refuge have I none,

I helpless, hang on Thee;

Leave, oh leave me not alone,

Support and comfort me.

All my trust on Thee is stayed,

All help from Thee I bring;

Cover my defenseless head

In the shadow of Thy wing.

Thou, O Christ, are all I want,

Here more than all I find;

Raise the fallen, cheer the faint,

Heal the sick, and lead the blind.

Just and holy is Thy Name,

I am all unrighteousness;

False and full of sin I am;

Thou art full of truth and grace.

Plenteous grace with Thee is found,

Grace to cover all my sin;

Let the healing streams abound;

Make and keep me pure within.

Thou of life the fountain art,

Let me take of Thee;

Spring Thou up within my heart;

For all eternity.

CONFESSION OF FAITH The Heidelberg Catechism

Question 1: What is your only comfort in life and death?

Answer: That I am not my own, but belong with body and soul, both in life and in death, to my faithful Savior Jesus Christ. He has fully paid for all my sins with His precious blood, and has set me free from all the power of the devil. He also preserves me in such a way that without the will of my heavenly Father not a hair can fall from my head; indeed, all things must work together for my salvation. Therefore, by His Holy Spirit He also assures me of eternal life and makes me heartily willing and ready from now on to live for Him.

HYMN OF RESPONSE There is a Hope

Music and Lyrics: Stuart Townend and Mark Edwards

There is a hope that burns within my heart,

That gives me strength for every passing day;

A glimpse of glory now revealed in meagre part,

Yet drives all doubt away:

I stand in Christ, with sins forgiven;

And Christ in me, the hope of heaven!

My highest calling and my deepest joy,

To make His will my home.

There is a hope that lifts my weary head,

A consolation strong against despair,

That when the world has plunged me in its deepest pit,

I find the Savior there!

Through present sufferings, future's fear,

He whispers 'courage' in my ear.

For I am safe in everlasting arms,

And they will lead me home.

There is a hope that stands the test of time,

That lifts my eyes beyond the beckoning grave,

To see the matchless beauty of a day divine

When I behold His face!

When sufferings cease and sorrows die,

And every longing satisfied.

Then joy unspeakable will flood my soul,

For I am truly home
