Unit Statement:The student will read books (level A2/B1) or its equivalent,paying attention at the pronunciation and intonation, ask and answer the related questions, and work with the vocabulary journal during the whole year. The student will write a summary and advertise the story/ fairy tale/ book he/she liked the most.The Unit may remain open during the school year as one period per week.
Essential Outcomes: (must be assessed for mastery)
- The Student Will read any story books level A2/B1 assessed by the teacher and complete exercises in the workbook.
- TSW read aloud the text paying attention on the pronunciation and intonations.
- TSW identify and apply the new vocabulary and write new words in a journal.
- TSW play different dialogues from the book with classmates.
- TSW ask and answer the questions about the story.
- TSW make summary of chapter(s) and try to predict the continuation.
- TSW describe different characters and give opinion about them.
- TSW create a little story with the same characters using all the tenses and moods learnt in this course.
- TSW express his/her opinion about the story.
- TSW interview his/ her classmates about the plot and impressions.
- TSW change the end of a story/ fairy tale/ book and write his/ her own.
- TSW writea summary of a chapter(s)/ book.
- TSW advertise the story/ fairy tale/ book he/she liked the most.

- TSW role-play different dialogues from the book with classmates.
- TSW identify and use all the Grammar constructions learnt in the course.
- TSW discuss the reading with classmates.
- TSW compareand contrast the story and a film/ cartoon.
- TSW participate in performing a play based on the story.
- TSW predict the continuation while reading the story.
- TSW create a little story.

- Give and follow simple instructions.
- Introduction of the unit vocabulary at the beginning of the unit.
- The student will respond to daily oral classroom instruction/commands.

- Vocabulary quizzes related to the essential unit.
- Develop “Word Wall” based on student vocabulary acquisition (please refer to the Internet).
- Comprehension and language skills can be assessed by playing games related to the essential outcomes.

- Watch selected cartoons in German(please refer to Youtube).
