Student Application Process Timeline 2018 - 2019

Parents/Guardians and Prospective HCEC Students,

Thank you for your interest in Harnett County Early College. Harnett County Early College is an innovative high school and is located at the Dunn Center Central Carolina Community College campus. Harnett County Early College offers motivated high school students:

●A smaller learning environment

●Five year plans to earn a high school diploma and an Associate’s Degree

●Acceleration and honors level high school coursework

●Personalization

●College Ready Preparation

In order to accept our new students for the 2018-2019 school year, the application process will be as follows:

November 30, 2017: Applications are available to students from school counselors and online at

December 4 – 11, 2017: Middle School Visits/Presentations

December 12, 2017: 1st - Parent and student Open House Informational Session and tour at Harnett County Early College, 6:00pm. Please sign up for this session by emailing . Please email Mrs. Strickland by Friday, December 8, if you and your student plan to attend.

February 5, 2018: 2nd - Parent and student Open House Informational Session and tour at Harnett County Early College, 6:00pm. Please sign up for this session by emailing . Please email Mrs. Strickland by Wednesday, January 31, if you and your student plan to attend.

February 19, 2018: Completed applications due to counselors. Counselors will be asked to send completed applications to Bettymae Strickland, HCEC Counselor. Please email a list of students who have completed the application to .

The March 5, 2018 date has been extended – Students and Parents will be notified when a new date has been scheduled: Parents and/ students will be notified of the date and time for their interview.

March 26, 2018: Notification letters sent to students.

Once you receive an application it is important that you read the entire packet carefully. If you do not understand all areas, please contact Mrs. Bettymae Strickland at or your school counselor with any questions.

I understand that once students are enrolled at Harnett County Early College High School, HCEC becomes their assigned school. If a parent would like their student to be reassigned to another high school in the district, the school district transfer procedures will be followed. I understand by attending HCEC, it will be more difficult to participate in extracurricular activities on the attendance zone campuses; i.e. football, Band, etc. I understand that by attending HCEC, I will be responsible for transportation to extracurricular activities.
