New Business:
We determined that we need to purchase pipes for Scoreboard Mounting and determine the best location for installation. The Score board will be delivered to us in March. Garage doors for the baseball shed also need to be replaced, and Baseball Shed needs to be painted to match school colors.
Mapleton Days:
Needs for staffing and setup for mud run were discussed. It was determined we need 20 volunteers for operations and set up tasks including fencing, parking, security, and gate sales. We determined that Hagge’s bar parking lot will be for handicapped parking only in order to maximize attendance capacity. Gate Sales will start at the mud run at 10 am. We need to determine road closure and detour for people that live East of Hagges. This will be largely determined by the construction on 1st Street. Detour Signs need to be put up on Friday. To give fair warning we will distribute sorry for the inconvenience letters to affected citizens. Roamers will bring the supplies Friday night for fencing. The rope will be used to prevent people from driving down the ditch for parking and hopefully keep everyone at the designated parking entrance. We were able to obtain a chisel plow for prepping the mud run track. This will churn up the dirt better than the disk plow used in the past. Eric Hildebrand will be providing or arranging for the water truck to maintain track conditions. We also agreed to advertise by mentioning that the open class will be running first. The Davenport Lions will be providing barrels and bleachers again this year. We will instruct the announcer to mention all sponsors often during the event. The Trophies have been ordered, their total cost was $413. We will be providing Fire Department support with 2 EMR’s. We will be putting up snow fence for the Street dance to prevent yard jumpers.
Items we will set up: We are looking into the possibility of having a full ambulance out at the event for support. We are also going to look at hiring a color guard for the national anthem (Casselton VFW or West Fargo VFW). We have condiments for food being served, and Kevin Odeguard will provide Hot dogs, buns, pop, water, and chips. We will work with Roamers for to determine placement for fence posts. We also need to arrange electrical for the band for the street dance. Park Board shed or generator if needed to accomplish this. We agreed to pay 10% of profits from the mud run to the Davenport Lions Club. We divied up sections for hanging up posters. Nikki was covering South Fargo, Amanda North Fargo, Donna Casselton, and Aaron with West Fargo. The kickball game has been moved from the baseball field to Prarieview Park due to accessibility issues.
Donna motioned to approve $375 for street signs promoting Mapleton Days, Aaron seconded, and all voted Aye to past the motion. At the Street dance we are allowing coolers but will also be selling beer and food. At the mud run we will just be selling food and Non-alchoholic beverages, same for Day at the Park.
Parade line up at the time of the meeting was the Mapleton Elementary School, Fire Department, Moore Engineering, Casselton Dance, Davenport Lions, North Dakota Democrats-NPL Party, and Matt Bruesch which of his business he is showing has not been disclosed.
