Title:- Teaching AssistantGrade:- Scale 5 (Term time only + 5 Training Days)
Responsible to:- Key Stage Phase Leader
Responsible for: -
The postholder has little or no supervisory responsibility
other than assisting in work familiarisation of other or
new employees.
Purpose: - To work as part of the team to support the provision of quality teaching
Teaching Assistant
Main Duties and Responsibilities:Specific:
1. To be involved and contribute to the whole planning cycles including lesson planning, yearly plans and discussion with class teacher.
2. Monitor and evaluate pupil’s response to learning through observation and ongoing assessment providing feedback and accurately recording against pre-determined leaning objectives.
3. Contribute to the assessment of pupil’s work, maintaining records of achievement and helping to moderate judgements on children’s learning
4. To directly deliver and implement work programmes to individuals/groups/classes of pupils under the direction and supervision of the class teacher.
5. To supervise groups/classes in the absence of the class teacher and on educational visits. Work with groups as directed by the class teacher.
6. To devise programmes of activities and experience appropriate to the learning needs of children by providing a setting in which children’s experiences and access to the curriculum are characterised by equality of opportunity regardless of gender, race or disability.
7. To support the provision of a stimulating environment to support and foster the development of each child intellectually, physically, emotionally and socially.
8. To support the planning of activities and experiences to provide opportunities for children to develop an understanding of themselves and to develop co-operative relationships with others.
9. To be responsible for the preparation, construction, collection and care of materials and equipment used inside & outside ensuring safe and accessible storage.
10. Supervise pupils during breaks, on educational visits and for the purposes of delivering out of school learning activities.
11. Carry out associated administrative duties e.g. collation of statistical information.
12. To undertake tasks such as mounting, tidying resources, creating displays etc.
and any other aspects of the curriculum planned with or directed by the teacher or
Headteacher.

· Be aware of and comply with school policies and procedures relating to safeguarding, child protection, health, safety and security, confidentiality and data protection, reporting all concerns to the appropriate person.
· Contribute to the overall ethos of the school promoting inclusion by providing a setting in which children’s experiences and access to the curriculum are characterised by equality of opportunity.
· Attend relevant meetings as required including participation in professional learning and associated development and training as required.
· To support and develop partnerships with parents and external agencies sharing information and understanding about individual children within the agreed remit.
· To be a role model for effective practice.
The Postholder’s duties must be carried out in compliance with the school’s policies and procedures including Child Protection procedures and the Council’s Equal Opportunities Policy, Information Security Policies, Financial Regulation and Standing Order, the Health and Safety at Work Act (1974), and subsequent health and safety legislation.
These duties and responsibilities should be regarded as neither exhaustive nor exclusive as the Postholder may be required to undertake other reasonably determined duties and responsibilities commensurate with the grading of the post.
