MARAC Process for High Risk Victims

MARAC / The Multi Agency Risk Assessment Conference (MARAC) identifies very high risk victims of domestic abuse and aims to reduce the risk of further victimisation through:
  • Appropriate sharing of information across agencies
  • Producing multi-agency safety plans to reduce the risk to victims and any children
  • Sharing an awareness of risk posed by the perpetrator to the victim or third party
The MARAC process is an opportunity for practitioners to share information about very high risk cases they are working with and together- at the MARAC meeting, agree a Risk Management Plan (RMP). / Professional referral from any agency where a very high risk is identified. Fife Women’s Aid / Domestic Abuse Groupwork Programme
Women’s Support Service / Female partner or victim of any male domestic abuse perpetrator who has a Court Order to attend the Domestic Abuse Groupwork Programme. / No referral necessary, as soon as a male perpetrator is accepted on group their partner will be contacted. This is an opt out service. / F / All victims/partners will be contacted and if they chose to engage, will be signposted to other services if appropriate and will at the least be provided with information re keeping themselves safe.
CEDARplus / Therapeutic groupwork programme for children and their mothers
CEDAR – concurrent 12 session groups. A mother’s group helps mothers to understand the impact domestic abuse has had on their child and are supported to help their child’s recovery. Children meet with other young people of similar age and a shared experience of domestic abuse to understand what has happened in their family.
EYDAR is based on the CEDAR model but for babies and toddlers. Mothers come to group and their child joins them for a part of the session (childcare is arranged) / Referrals from any agency, child or family member

Children 4 to 16 years;
Children have an experience of domestic abuse and are able to express their memory of it.

Children have an improved understanding of DA and knowledge of how to be safe and a greater sense of self-worth and wellbeing
Mothers have a greater understanding of the impact of domestic abuse on children, improved relationships with children and a greater sense of self-worth and wellbeing
Evaluation shows great individual value to mothers not only young people
Fife Women’s Aid / Children and Young People’s Support Service
Provides 1:1 support and group work opportunities to any young person who is affected by domestic abuse.
Support can be provided at home, in schools and/or any appropriate external venue. / Service available to any young person who is under the age of 18, who has experience of domestic abuse. Service is available to both male and female. / Self- referral or a 3rd party referral with clients consent

Family and Community Support Team / FACST provides support to vulnerable children, young people and their families in partnership with other services. We do this by:
  • providing a range of targeted supports and interventions (including case work & group work programmes) to children, young people and their families
  • working with families in a holistic way to address issues of concern
  • helping to build the capacity of individuals and families to secure better outcomes
/ FACST will consider referrals for support at level 3 (extended support) in line with Fife’s model of staged intervention
Groupwork programmes can be provided at additional level support / The referral form must be completed by the Named Person, Lead Professional or other agreed person.
A referral to FACST must come through
School Liaison Group (SLG);
Primary Liaison Group (PLG) or similar multi-agency meeting.
Early discussion with the Family Work Co-ordinator regarding a referral is recommended. / CYP & families / FACST staff provide a range of intensive supports including 1-1 support; home visits; delivering a range of evidence based group work programmes for parents/carers and children and young people (including CEDAR)

Housing Advice
Prevention First
(Prevention of homeless-ness service) / PF provides housing advice, assessment and referrals to specialist agencies to anyone in Fife who is homeless, threatened with homelessness or has a housing issue.
We do this by:
  • providing a range of targeted housing advice appointment and interventions
  • referring on to Fife Keyfund, Fife Law Centre and other specialist agencies
  • referring on for targeted Prevention First short term housing support
/ Any adult aged 16+ who is in need of housing advice. / To arrange a PF advice appointment or to attend the drop-in services, telephone or call in to your nearest Fife Council local office or Home4Good Resource Centre (Marwood House, Kirkcaldy; Segal House, Dunfermline; Commercial Street, Leven; East Burnside, Cupar).
Or call in to an office of Kingdom Housing Association; Ore Valley Housing Association; YMCA Glenrothes; or Gilven House, Glenrothes.
Housing support referral via FORT CRMS to Fife Council’s Advice & Specific Needs Team.
