Belk College of Business

The University of North Carolina at Charlotte announces an exciting opportunity to join a dynamic and growing development team. We have an opening for an Assistant Director of Development for the Belk College of Business within the office of Development. University of North Carolina at Charlotte is North Carolina's urban research institution. Our campus is located in the piedmont of North Carolina, just two hours from the mountains and three hours from the Atlantic Ocean. The Office of University Development's primary purpose is one of service and fund raising. These efforts include working closely with the governing boards, alumni, friends, community members, foundations and corporations to increase private giving to the University. The Office of Development is within the division of University Advancement.

JOB DESCRIPTIONS:

The Assistant Director of Development is responsible for identifying, cultivating and soliciting alumni, parents and friends of UNC Charlotte along with community members for gifts to the Belk College of Business.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. The Assistant Director of Development is responsible for managing his/her portfolio of prospective donors, including but not limited to the following:

·  The Assistant Director will identify, cultivate and solicit alumni, parents and friends of the University along with community members to increase Annual Fund giving to the College.

·  Through direct mail, e-solicitations, personal visits, special events, etc. the Assistant Director will establish a relationship with prospective donors and will qualify and solicit them based on their ability and propensity to make an Annual Fund gift at the leadership level and/or a major gift.

·  The Assistant Director will be responsible for designing and executing strategies to effectively identify, cultivate, solicit and steward the prospective Annual Fund donors at the leadership level.

·  The Assistant Director will maintain complete and accurate records of contacts, proposal status, call reports and stewardship activities.

·  The Assistant Director will support volunteers and volunteer groups within the College including, but not limited to, the Board of Advisors, Real Estate Advisory Board, Accounting Alumni Board and the new Belk College of Business Alumni Council.

·  The Assistant Director will work in concert with the prospect management team, Senior Director of Development for the Belk College and the Senior Director of Major Gifts to coordinate prospect identification and donor movement.

·  The Assistant Director will develop strong working relationships with the Office of University Development Director of Annual Fund and will provide counsel and coordination for all college-specific development efforts.

The Assistant Director of Development is responsible for assisting with the Division of Development and Alumni Affairs college-specific alumni and community affairs programs, working with the Office of Alumni Affairs and the Office of Public Relations.

The Assistant Director must exercise initiative and work independently, with sound judgment and integrity and without daily supervision. The Assistant Director must be able to work as part of a team while demonstrating the independence required managing a portfolio of prospects and multiple projects concurrently.

REQUIREMENTS:

·  Bachelor Degree

·  Masters Degree Preferred

·  3 years of Experience in Communications or development; preferably with Annual Fund campaigns

·  Sound judgment, integrity, excellent interpersonal and communications skills, a strong work ethic, attention to detail, the ability to think strategically and a sense of humor are essential.
