CENTA continues on its road to success
Half a million of marine couplings sold, among them 100,000 super flexible CENTAX-SEC systems: A success rate that CENTA proudly presents at the SMM in Hamburg from 23. – 26. September 2008.
In 1988, CENTA developed their CENTAX “Super Elastic Coupling System” (SEC), a super flexible coupling system with a modular design for all 4-stroke engine sizes. This year, the CENTAX-SEC turns 20 years old, and CENTA celebrates the sale of half a million marine couplings. Among these couplings were 100,000 super flexible CENTAX-couplings, which have proven their worth in tough assignments on the seven seas and in industrial applications day in and day out. These couplings as well as its two new sizes “188” and “288” will be showcased at the SMM in Hamburg in hall A, stand 321.
The principle of the modular design coupling system is based on a highly flexible CENTAX rubber element, made of natural rubber or silicone and delivered in several shorehardnesses. The combination of the rubber element with a membrane, link, or bolt coupling as well as a variety of flanges and hubs, offers perfect solutions with high elasticity in all directions, utmost adaptability with regard to constructional requirements and the achievement of a wide range of torsional stiffness. The result is a diversity of coupling types, which can be used in main and auxiliary drives from small boats to the largest industrial vessels and yachts in turn providing highest comfort aboard.
Several international classification societies have already granted CENTA type approvals. In 1990, the company’s quality management system was first approved by DIN ISO 9001. Since that time, all subsequent audits have been passed successfully. Just recently, CENTA was the first company worldwide to which Germanischer Lloyd (GL) conferred the responsibility for alternative product certification of type-approved couplings. A sign of trust confirming CENTA’s commitment to continuous quality improvement.
CENTA offers a comprehensive portfolio of sophisticated solutions for all kinds of applications, from small pleasure boat drives to the largest 4-stroke diesel engines. The couplings are suited for each kind of main, auxiliary and specialty drive, whether between diesel engine and gearbox or generator, or between gearbox and propeller shaft and water jet. With regard to carbon fibre drive shafts in particular, CENTA offers complete systems and is a world market leader with approximately 500 shaft systems in use with performances of up to 23 MW per shaft.
