Fundraising at Sprecher’s February 28
It is a little over a month until our annual fund raising event. It is scheduled again for Feb 28 at Sprechers. The success of this event is based largely on three simple things:
1. Inviting everyone we know to attend.
2. Obtaining a good number of great raffle items that can be grouped into desirable packages that people will spend money on.
3. Sponsorship
All of us need to be inviting friends, associates, etc to the event.

The Power of Stories
Story-telling is the most effective way to preserve family history, Steve Busalacchi told the club on January 14. It involves engaging a loved one in conversation or recording your own thoughts on paper, via computer or participating in a video or audio recording.
In developing your story, you should focus on particular parts of your life: growing up, high school, college, getting married, business, etc. Tell stories from those stages of your life and what you learned. Ask open ended questions, like How did you meet Mom? Why did you become an engineer? What have you learned about . . . ?
Video is very popular, and the cost of HD video recorders has dropped dramatically. If you do this yourself, be sure to buy a high quality microphone that can be used with the recorder. Gorgeous video and terrible audio make for a bad combination. Video editing is getting easier, but it can be a challenge for those without solid computer skills. After editing, save the best material for a final copy to distribute to family and friends. You will never regret capturing these stories...
Thank you to Steve Bucalacchi for an inspiring talk.
