The Annual report of St. Charles school Iringa 2014
On behalf of the management staff and students of the school I extend my warm regards to all of you.
We began the new Academic year on 6th of January 2014 with 526 students on roll, 17 staff and 8 non- teaching staff, imploring God’s blessings upon each one of us.
Your service gives us immense joy and happiness, today we look forward with gratitude to the almighty that has showered on us plentiful blessings. In the words of Helen killer “The best and the most beautiful things cannot be seen or touched but felt in the heart”.
THE AIM OF THE SCHOOL
The aim of the school is to provide ‘QUALITY EDUCATION FOR INTERGRATION’ inculcating in the young early formation habits and to promote better opportunities for their own development of the country. The management and the teaching staff have put in a lot of efforts to make every individual mentally alert, physically strong, emotionally stable and spiritually enhanced to face the society with the courage and confidence. The outsiders who visit our school are highly appreciative of the same.
ACEDEMIC CARE
Our school day is a special day for all of us, we rejoice in the success that we have achieved. We wish to correct the short comings of the past and try to fare better in the future. Today we look forward with a hope towards greater growth and progress. We are proud that we had good results, achievements in academic, co-curricular and extracurricular activities of this year.
I proudly place before you the achievements of our students in this annual report 2013. In National exams of Std VII year 2013, 7 students achieved grade ‘A’ 27 students achieved grade ‘B’ and 2 students grade ‘C’ and STD IV 11 students achieved grade ‘A’, 41 students achieved grade ‘B’ and 3 students grade‘C’.
In the Regional mock of std VII 2014 out of 39 students 7 students achieved grade A and 32 students achieved grade. B
SPIRITUAL ORIENTATION.
“If God is all you have… you have all you need” Jn.chapetr 14:8
By trusting in the word of God we decided to have Eucharistic celebration every month in which all the staff and the students take active part in order to strengthen one‘s faith in God. We also had special prayers offered during morning assembly during Lenten season.
Our students are given value based education through regular religious, moral science classes, discipline, and the other input sessions during the week and during everyday assembly through skits, speech, moral stories. Thought for the day is displayed on every classroom blackboard.
Counseling and guidance is given to students who are problematic and given guidance and counseling which is helping them to become a better student.
THE STUDENT’S COUNCIL.
The students’ council is a body of elected members that includes a sense of leadership and democracy among the students it plays an important role in being a mediator between the students and the management. Its comprises head boy and head girl, class prefects and house captains. They are divided into four groups named St. Charles, St.Bakita, St.Theresa and St. Joseph.
IMPORTANT EVENTS.
Teaching is a ongoing learning process. The school facilities the participation of teaching faculty in a wide range of workshops and seminars in service training programmes to enhance the knowledge of their subject and keep them up to date with changing paradigms in learning.
· A day of seminar was organized for the teaching staff by Rev. Fr. Basil the Headmaster of Maifnga seminary.
· Orientation course for the teachers was given by experienced and retired teacher sister Sunita.
· This year the management organized on healthy family and value system for the parents. Rev. Fr. Thelsphori Tweve was the resource person. He inspired parents to be committed and responsible in the forming their children; family is the cradle of primary education. Parents appreciated and commented that they would expect such seminars in the future.
· We had organized community service day for the whole school. We divided the students according to their houses. They worked very hard and put in their effort to make school environment better.
· We had organized the scout camp in the school premises. The students who were interested enrolled themselves and made use of the opportunity. Theme of the camp was “Be prepared in mind and body and spirit”.
“We are the leaders, we have been waiting for” a “voluntary, non-political, educational movement” started by Lord Baden Powell. this club provides yet another means to promote life skills among the learners as the purpose of scouting is “to contribute to the development of young people in achieving their full physical, intellectual, social and spiritual potentials as individuals, as responsible citizens and as members of local, national and international communities.” practical sessions for members of scouts & guides club were organized in the school premises on 24 th to 26th of April in the school premise that they y were taught following activities:

How to make stretcher scouting claps hand signals & whistle signals square knot, bowline knot & hand cuff knot etc.
Audio - visual
· According to the syllabus and recommendation, teaching aids provided by the opportunity is used well. According to each classes educational moral and the entertainment DVDs are shown periodically.
· We had organized an orientation programmes on Guidance and Counseling for our students in five groups. Teachers in charge for the guidance and counseling addressed our student from Std IV to VII to instill in them, to be open to the teachers while they face problems.
· The academically weak students of each class were identified after every unit test and were given special coaching and guidance at the earliest by their respective teachers. Weekly and monthly tests were conducted regularly and the parents were given the opportunity to meet their teachers twice a year. others met the teachers
· We take part in the joint exams twice a year in the Iringa region.
COMPETITIONS:
· We organized traditional dance competitions students were happy to exhibit the richness of different tribes uniqueness of culture and their practices. The judges were happy to see the positive competitive spirit among the groups
· We have different competitions like essay, debate, drawing, handwriting, storytelling, speech competitions.
· We had organized a debate for the students from Std IV to VI according to their houses. We admired their confidence on the topic and spontaneity.
CLUBS & COMMITTEES
“Our environment, the world in which we live and work, is a mirror of our attitudes and expectations. “School has been undertaking various activities to sensitize communities within and outside the school, to protect and preserve our precious environment. The school had made the students are aware of the various environment friendly initiatives taken and what is the role of individual to preserve our mother earth!
ENVIRONMENTAL CLUB
· Environment club is the in charge of keeping the school premises. Students themselves are in charge of taking care of the plants and the surrounding. During daily assembly students are taught to keep the class room environment clean and of its ill effects of bad environment. Essay, speech, and drawing competitions is held on this topic. Awareness is created among the students to protect the environment especially by reducing the plastic bottles and bags in the school campus and their bad effects on the environment by giving them talks, and displaying different articles on the school notice board. Students are taught to take care of the trees and plants and are asked to water the plants bring manure for the plants. Seasonal fruits of the garden are shared by the students.
· Students are given all round development. Students are assisted through guidance and counseling students have regular club activities. And the following clubs are functioning effectively such as, Environment club, Language club, Arts, Math’s &science and school parliament school Choir and School Band is organized.
· We are happy to announce the number in the alumnae association steadily increasing. And they are keeping the spirit of St. Charles school and growing in every way. And they were given a orientation by Rev. Fr. Oscar Rutechura SDB.
· Both the teaching staff and the students- in charge were given orientation and guidance for the smooth functioning of the above mentioned.
ACHIEVEMENTS OF THE SCHOOL.

Our school and hall roof has been painted to give a good look.
School canteen has been inaugurated on 14th of January 2014
School sign board is placed. New band items are bought.
Fencing of school property is in progress.
CHALLENGES OF THE SCHOOL;
· There is a common saying which states that, there is no straight road without a curve despite of all this achievements, we still have to face many challenges.
· Though many parents want their children to study in our school, they are disappointed for not getting admission. We need to construct administration block which is pending in the growing economy it’s difficult to get funding agencies unless you parents co operate in contributing to build up the remaining structure
· We have still not completed the fencing of the school play ground due to the lack of funds this problem could be solved with the generous help of you dear parents
· Low fees structure has created a big problem of sustaining better committed teachers in the school and the decided to raise the fees in order to sustain the good dedicated teachers. In the coming year
· Lack of co – operation from the parents in paying the fees on time as well as sending the students back home for the sake of school fees has brought a lot of disturbance to the management and students in particular.
CONCLUSION:
Let me conclude this report by expressing my sincere thanks to our benefactors I extend my gratitude to all my sisters for supporting our school activities, I thank and appreciate all the teaching and the non teaching staff members for being ever ready to render their services for the betterment of the students and the growth of this institution. I also thank each and every one of you dear parents, past pupils and well wishers for your kind cooperation extended to us in the past and I look forward to similar cooperation in the years ahead. I conclude the Annual Report of the school by raising my heart to God our loving Father who has been so benevolent to us and has guided us by showering his blessings on us throughout the year.
