Development and Administrative Coordinator
December 2017/January 2018

The Hoosier Environmental Council, Indiana’s leading, statewide environmental educator and advocate, is seeking a full-time Development and Administrative Coordinatorfor its Indianapolis office. This talented individual wouldreport to HEC’s Development Manager.

Responsibilities

  • Build relationships with a portfolio of donors through a combination of phone calls, emails, mail, social media, and events to retain& toexpand financial support for HEC’s mission.
  • Work in close coordination with other development staff to debrief on donor outreach and collaborate on development strategy.
  • Enter process gifts, generate thank you renewal letters, and manage database records.
  • Provide logistical support at HEC annual events and represent HECat Earth Month events.
  • Assist with various administrative needs, including but not limited to purchasing office supplies, organizing press clippings, serving as a liaison between HEC and office partners (building manager, printer company, etc.),and updating intra-organizational materials.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree, including some collegiate-level environmental-related coursework.
  • Authentically interested in not only environmental issues, but public policy.
  • Fearless, relaxed and comfortablein requesting financial support from, and conversing with, donors --primarily over the phone and in written correspondence.
  • Thoughtful, confident, warm, and diplomatic in one’s approach.
  • Enjoys working independently to mine and to create information within a donor database.
  • Possesses a strong attention to detail when processing and acknowledging donor support.
  • Must be strongly self-motivated, but also able to work collaboratively.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Extensive coursework and/or volunteer work intersecting with HEC’s policy areas.
  • A minimum of 2 years development experience.
  • Master’s degree in Philanthropy, Environmental Policy, Public Affairs or a related field.
  • Familiarity with donor software such as Abila Fundraising 50, Microsoft Office programs (Exchange, Wordand Excel)and social media platforms (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram).
