Walk in the Woods with Jock Irons

Please join Jock Irons, woodland owner and member of the Vermont Tree Farm Committee, on his property as we enjoy a walk through the woods and meadow, and around the pond. This 41 acre property has been in the Irons family since 1971, and was managed Jock’s father for the previous owner for many years prior to that.
Light refreshments will be served after the walk. This is a field event (rain or shine) so dress accordingly. Mild to moderate hiking on rough trails is required. There is no charge for this workshop (Donations to the VWA/ Vermont Tree Farm Committee welcomed!). Directions to the Irons Tree Farm: Coming from Bennington: Travel east on VT Route 9 from the intersection of US 7 and VT 9 in the center of Bennington, for about 4 miles through the village of Woodford Hollow. Just past the Woodford Town Office (looks like a small white church), take a left on Harbour Road.
Coming from the north on US 7: Follow the signs to Brattleboro on US 279 to VT 9. Once on Rt 9, travel east for about 2.5 miles miles through the village of Woodford Hollow. Just past the Woodford Town Office (looks like a small white church), take a left on Harbour Road.
Coming from the east on VT 9: Vermont route 9 goes past Prospect Mountain ski area, then starts a long descent into the valley. As the highway starts to level out, about 3.8 miles from Prospect, look for the Woodford Town Office (looks like a small white church). Just before the Town Office, take a right onto Harbour Road. If you go by the trailer park, you have gone too far.
Once on Harbour Road, go northeast about 0.8 miles until you see a large concrete water tank. Take the driveway to the left, 791 Harbour Rd., immediately past the tank, and go up the hill, ignoring the No Trespassing signs. Parking will be tight, so someone will likely direct you where to park.
