Job Description – Cluster Lead – Residential Area

Responsible to : Deputy Principals
Providing Leadership to : Senior Team Leaders and other staff in the Residential Cluster
Key Tasks: To assist the Deputy Principals and collaborate with colleagues in respect of day-to-day school management taking particular middle leadership responsibility for the staff in the residential cluster.
To collaborate with colleagues to manage staffing arrangements in the cluster and across the whole school
To champion the holistic waking-day curriculum developments and to help ensure a consistent approach to learning throughout the Residential Cluster and, through collaboration, across the whole school.
To lead on the provision of high-quality residential provision which fully meets the needs of all students – including day students.
To collaborate with the Deputy Principals on a continuous drive to comply with and improve on all relevant national standards in relation to residential education.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES
Cluster Management
To be a member of the Learning Leadership Team, participating in regular meetings of this team.
To provide a link between the School Leadership Team, the Learning Leadership Team and the Residential Staff Team, working closely with the Senior Team Leaders and the Activities and Extended Services Leader.
To provide and reinforce clarity over the aims, objectives and implementation of the holistic waking-day curriculum.
To facilitate multi-disciplinary liaison.
Staff Management
To support, mentor and line-manage STLs and the AESL, implementing the Appraisal Policy and the appraisal/performance management arrangements, including setting targets and evaluating performance.
To provide supervision for the STLs and the AESL and to ensure that all Residential Education Staff receive supervision from an appropriate Line Manager.
To manage the staffing of the cluster and to collaborate with other cluster leads to ensure the efficient and effective use of resources, responding to short term and late notice changes by arranging staff to best provide for the needs of the students.
To take an active role in the recruitment and induction of new staff joining the Residential Cluster.
In collaboration with the Deputy Principals and colleagues on the LLT, identify the training and CPD needs of staff and plan INSET activities accordingly.
These staff management responsibilities in particular will require the post holder to be available outside of the core hours of work in order to respond to changing needs.
Curriculum
To champion the curriculum that is being embedded across the school. To support the development and consistent use of the curriculum model, ensuring that it is relevant, realistic and rewarding.
To lead and support Residential Cluster staff to contribute to the programme of target setting, assessment and monitoring for students who are residential eg. Individual Education Plans, Risk Assessments, Annual Reviews and Reports
To be responsible for the management of the Residential Cluster group budget
To initiate the agenda and lead the Residential Cluster group staff meetings.
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES
To ensure that items of concern relating to Health and Safety are reported as per the current procedures and policies.
To identify and take part in relevant personal professional development activities.
To maintain confidentiality in all aspects of Parkwood Hall Academy. The nature of the working environment entrusts people with confidential information. Any breach of this confidentiality will constitute gross misconduct.
To co-operate with all Parkwood Hall Academy staff in maintaining good relationships with outside agencies and the general public in order to promote and uphold the school’s image.
To perform any other duties as are within the scope, spirit and purpose of the position as requested by the Principal.
