Information Technology Help Desk Technician
MCD Corporate Services, a division of Medical Care Development (MCD), Inc., a not-for-profit health services organization, is seeking a motivated, organized, hands-on team player to serve as an Information Technology Help Desk Technician. The individual in this position must have the ability to demonstrate multi-tasking and problem solving skills and who can prioritize and manage time and projects effectively. We are searching for an energetic, detail-oriented candidate who is willing to show initiative, has a conscientious work style, who is flexible with work assignments, and who is willing to take on new duties/assignments depending on the immediate needs of the organization. This IT position is located in Portland with occasional travel to the Augusta office as needed. This full-time, 40 hour per week, non-exempt position is available immediately and is eligible for MCD’s benefit package.
The Information Technology Help Desk Technician helps in administering various web-based and hosted software applications and peripherals within a mixed Microsoft environment. This position will have primary responsibilities for installing end-user hardware and software, repairing computer and peripheral equipment, and working with vendors for part replacement. As part of a team structure, the individual in this position will have a key role in coordinating work and technical support activities for MCD projects. New tasks and systems will be learned on a regular basis to serve as back up to the other IT Department staff members. Secondary responsibilities relate to maintenance, design, and support of large-scale clinical and financial applications in all MCD operating divisions.
This position will be in close contact with MCD employees in our local office and remote offices. Candidate must have excellent communication skills and enjoy working with people with varying personalities and work styles. Travel is required mostly within the state of Maine; however, out of state travel may be necessary as well.
Duties (include, but are not limited to):
- General oversight of the help desk emails.
- Assist in purchasing and procurement for the MCDC division.
- Install, configure, and maintain workstations, printers, faxes, VOIP phones, and other peripherals. Track inventory of these items as they are installed or decommissioned.
- Write documentation as new procedures, processes, or tasks are required.
- Assist with training new users in the MCDC division.
- Installs, configures, and maintains software and hardware connected to the LAN server and end user workstations.
- Implements hardware and software updates.
- Assist other programs and corporate with various functions as needed consistent with corporate philosophy of mutual cooperation.
Qualifications for this position are:
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
- A+ Certification, any Microsoft Certifications preferred, but not required.
- Knowledge and experience with all Microsoft Windows environments and Microsoft Office.
- College Degree in Computer Information Technology is preferred, but is not required.
- 1-2 years technical hands-on experience with Windows based environments, networking, and applications preferred.
- Experience with router (wired and wireless) configuration and general networking concepts.
- Workstation, printers, and peripherals maintenance experience
- Knowledge of Crystal Reports, SQL Databases, and some programming (ASP.NET, VB.NET) would be preferable, but not required.
- Knowledge of Active Directory, DNS, and DHCP preferable, but not required.
