Welcome and introductions / Katie chaired the meeting. Everyone introduced themselves.
Future of PPG Network / The Network discussed their ideas for the upcoming year.
·  CCG to continue to chair the meeting
·  CCG to do a plan of the year ahead with bi monthly meetings - Send ideas to us with agenda planned basis
·  Hold 3-4 speed dating events in the year - priorities list of organisations that will benefit patients the most. Longer than 10 minutes, extend the invite to other PPG reps
·  Have a PPG Resource section on the CCG website, including terms of reference, survey examples
·  Use the network have a set agenda items invite Recruitment, set up board, Frequency, representative, virtual groups, work of PPG
·  List of the organisations from the speed dating to be sent
·  Chair of PPG contacts emails to be shared
PPG discussion / The group discussed best practice and ideas for setting up new PPGs
·  Need to have GPs on board
·  Start off with achievement objectives small difference
·  Feedback is positive, got to know back room staff and the whole practice as a whole
·  Myths buster workshop to criticise staff and practice shouldn't be personnel - Invite staff and receptionist staff to dispel myths
·  PPG chair to attend clinical meetings
·  Use notice board to feedback
·  Have own email address
·  Encourage anonymous comments
·  Feedback is bigger picture not all negative
·  Virtual group
·  Online presence can help reach those that can't come to meetings
Warrington Health Plus / The network discussed Warrington Health Plus.
·  What are the clusters and projects?
·  PPGs can sell the idea to patients
·  Not all practices have signed up to WHP - can the PPG be used to persuade and ask why?
·  Recruitment has been an issue. Booklet being prepared to send to all practices on the benefits of joining health plus
·  Need a drip feed of information
·  Plan in a session to update - need to think about clusters projects e.g. care home project and the benefits of it for patients
Dr. Catherine Doyle / Medicines Management Proposal

Proposal that patients’ should be expected to buy medicines for minor health problem. This would result in cost savings to the prescribing budget.
But we need ideas before a formal consultation on how we can make cuts with no detrimental effect on patients.
Welcome for ideas for quality pieces of work
How identified? Data PPA and look at costings educational change for patients and relatives
Discussions
·  How to put this message out to the population
·  Not seen to be holding medicines
·  Are there alternatives
·  How to ensure that the savings are put back into health of Warrington
·  Need to be a Warrington wide brand, with all GP signed up
·  CCG structure running costs are high, can savings be made through staff and unnecessary meetings?
·  Be honest with the population about cost savings!!
Other medicines management issues were discussed:
·  Incorrect medication and unwanted medication - can't guarantee not tampered with and stored properly
·  Issues with repeat prescriptions
·  Need better liaison with pharmacy and GPs
·  Wastage in hospitals thrown when you are admitted

Patient Transport Service event on 5th February
Mental health Forum relaunched to Head to Toe – will meet monthly for people to discuss any mental and physical health issues
Time to Talk Day event raising awareness of mental health on 5th February
Healthwatch are going to work with Health and Social Care students in Chester, Esstta will use it to promote PPGs
New IT system to capture feedback - need partners to promote. It is a Trip Advisor type system, and will be an opportunity for patients to have a say about their service to ensure it’s fair and representative
Experience of Friends and Family test, there is a mix of responses. It has been useful that some practice have put an extra question what can be improved.
