Parent Involvement Policy
2009-2010
Brogden Primary School supports the role of parents in the education of their children. The faculty and staff will strive to include our parents in the total planning process. The Title 1 budgeting information and the federal requirement for parental involvement will be shared at the first PTA meeting on October 8, 2009. Student Accountability Agreements were sent home at the beginning of the year to assure all families equal participation.
Brogden Primary School provides the following parental involvement activities:
- Parent Resource Library, located in the Media Center, equipped with materials (books, kits, games, etc.) that parents may check out to use with their child.
- Parent Workshops and Seminars.
- Curriculum night events to explain our policies, curriculum, and classroom expectations.
- Classroom and School Volunteer Program
- WAGES Foster Grandparents (Kindergarten and Preschool Classes)
- Classroom and individual Clerical Assistance
- Classroom and School Volunteers
- Classroom Observation Opportunities
- Take Home Computer
- Brogden Primary School Parent Teacher Association (PTA)
- Brogden Primary School Parent Advisory Council ( PAC)
- Wayne County Schools Advisory Council
- Inclusion of Selected Parents on School Improvement Teams and Committees
- School Open-Door Policy for Parent Visitations
- Andy’s Family Night at Andy’s in Mar-Mac
- Math /Literacy Night
- Hispanic Night
- Report Card Pick Up Events
- Title 1 budgeting information and the federal requirements for Parental Involvement will be shared at the first PTA meeting on October 8, 2009.
The following additional activities relative to the Title 1 Parent Involvement Program are also provided:
- Sending home Student Accountability Agreement forms immediately after school begins.
- Continuing Kindergarten through Fourth Grade Curriculum Nights.
- Continuing flexible hours for parents to come and check out materials from the Parent Resource Library located in the Media Center.
- Updating parents on school activities and events through the use of newsletters.
- Continuing to share Title 1 budget information and the federal requirements for Parent Involvement at the first PTA meeting each school year
At Brogden Primary School, we see the parent as the child’s first teacher. We believe that parent participation in the learning process and the school process and the school environment has a positive effect on children’s achievement. We also believe that it requires a team, consisting of the home, and the community working together, to ensure the success of our children.
