Curriculum Development
How do we engage students in the sustainability agenda? How do we encourage staff to embed sustainability themes into all programmes? How does FE deliver the skills needed for a sustainable future? We will be discussing these questions and suggesting a way forward.
Procurement and Fair Trade
This workshop will consider the challenges facing the development of a college procurement strategy that delivers effective Value for Money Efficiencies through good procurement practice within the context of Sustainability. It will also focus on how to harness the efforts of students, colleagues and the local community in order to achieve Fair Trade status.
From Strategy to Action
Focusing on leadership and the development of policy and strategy. This workshop will look at getting started, how to keep momentum and the structures necessary for this to happen.
Developing a Biodiversity Environment
Making your green space work for wildlife and people in an urban environment, to include tour.
Student Engagement
This workshop will focus on how to engage students through Students’ Unions and cross-college events. It will also consider the various communication tools that can be used to help support behaviour change.
Volunteering and Funding
Focusing on developing volunteering opportunities within your college, involving the local community and students in the college wide sustainability agenda. This workshop will also look at how to fund these opportunities and some of the resources available.
Estates/Energy Management
This workshop will provide a practical insight into the waste and energy management processes recently introduced together with details of initiatives currently under evaluation.
Green Travel Plan
This workshop will focus on the development of a green travel plan, how to get started, key people to engage in the institution and community and how to turn policy into action.
Cancellations and Refunds
Cancellations confirmed in writing by Monday 16th June will be refunded. Cancellations received after this date cannot be refunded, although substitutions will be accepted if notified in writing prior to the event. Bookings made after 16th June are non refundable.
