Architects

- Develop techniques, including control and use of materials, with creativity, experimentation and an increasing awareness of different kinds of design.
- Improve mastery of drawing techniques.
- Learn about great architects in history.
- Find the area of rectilinear shapes by counting squares.
- Locate the world’s countries, using maps, concentrating on key physical and human characteristics, countries, and major cities.
- Use research and develop design criteria to inform the design of innovative, functional, appealing products that are fit for purpose, aimed at particular individuals or groups.
- Generate, develop and communicate their ideas through discussion, annotated sketches and cross-sectional diagrams.
- Evaluate their ideas and products against their own design criteria and consider the views of others to improve their work.
Block D
Designers
[8 sessions - TBC] / Explore the designs and motifs of a number of designers. Practice design techniques, including symmetry, and design a wallpaper pattern, a chair, a vase and a jacket under their inspiration (TBC).
