Position: Bilingual SafeCare®Parent Support Provider
Supervisor: SafeCare®Supervisor
Position Status: Full Time, hourly, non-exempt
Salary Grade: 6
Position Summary: The primary goal of SafeCare Colorado is to provide an evidence-based program to reduce child abuse and neglect in Colorado. Parent Support Providers will deliver a highly structure intervention to at-risk families in the home setting.
Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in a human service related field plus two years of experience working with young children and their families preferred. Demonstrated knowledge of early childhood development may substitute for one year of experience. Must be committed to and skilled at building relationships with under-resourced, at-risk families. Must be comfortable going into homes that may be cluttered, dirty, dark, and not air-conditioned. Must be open to learning and implementing new curricula or intervention programs and to delivering a highly structured intervention. Must be able to be both creative and flexible in service delivery while maintaining fidelity to the model. Must be open to supervision and feedback. Must have strong computer skills; prefer Word, Excel and Access experience. Prefer knowledge of metro Denver area resources. Must be able to work independently in clients’ homes and in the community. Must be able to establish and maintain working relationships with various community providers. Must have access to acceptable transportation on a daily basis for home visits and various off-site meetings. Must have a valid Colorado driver’s license, car insurance, and acceptable motor vehicle record. Must clear background checks with Colorado Bureau of Investigation (CBI) and the Central Registry. Fluency in Spanish is required.
Responsibilities:
- Model Family Tree values of commitment, integrity, accountability, inclusiveness, collaboration and advocacy.
- Demonstrate strong engagement skills to recruit and retain clients in a voluntary, home-based service.
- Attend SafeCare® Colorado Home Visitor Training and pass all requirements for full certification. Bilingual Home Visitor Training requires dual certification.
- Understand and adhere to SafeCare® module protocol.
- Make initial enrollment telephone calls to families referred to SafeCare® Colorado.
- Participate in weekly individual and monthly group coaching (by phone or in person) until certification is reached. After certification, continue to participate in monthly coaching to maintain fidelity.
- Meet weekly with SafeCare® Colorado Supervisor.
- Carry a caseload of 12-15 clients.
- Use scanner and computer to upload required documents and information to Kempe Center SharePoint site and SafeCare® Colorado Portal on a weekly basis.
- Conduct marketing and outreach to maintain a strong referral base and establish a positive reputation within the communities served by SafeCare® Colorado.
- Identify agencies within the community that serve clients who may benefit from SafeCare® Colorado and facilitate the agency’s ability to provide referrals to SafeCare® Colorado.
- Participate in outreach efforts (giving presentations, attending conferences, handing out fliers, meeting with ground level staff, etc.) to community agencies using marketing material provided by The Kempe Center.
- Log outreach efforts and maintain regular contact with agencies while simultaneously expanding efforts to increase outreach.
- Complete training on protocols, data collections and assessments used for Kempe Quality Improvement evaluations and CDHS Program Evaluations of SafeCare® Colorado.
- Obtain consent from families to participate in additional, though optional, Kempe Center assessments of SafeCare® Colorado.
- Electronically submit completed quality improvement data to The Kempe Center.
- Participate in weekly team meetings.
- Participate in regular supervision meetings with Supervisor, sharing participants’ progress and problems.
- Attend on-site and off-site meetings and trainings as requested or needed.
- Adhere to all Family Tree, Inc. established policies and procedures, including those regarding timely reporting of suspected child abuse or neglect and confidentiality of client information.
- Ensure a safe work environment and follow all safety procedures.
- Other duties as assigned.
Because of program participants’ availability, this position schedule requires flexibility, which is likely to include afternoon and evening hours, and occasionally, weekend hours. This is a 40 hour a week position expected to be Monday through Friday, primarily.
Physical Requirements: This position requires visiting homes or apartments that may or may not be handicapped accessible. This position also requires the ability to meet the physical demands associated with essential functions: talking, hearing (ordinary conversation), and seeing (read paperwork, computer work), manual dexterity sufficient to operate a computer, calculator and telephone. Lastly, must be able to lift 10-15 lbs.
