EM Holt Elementary PTO Board Minutes
April 11, 2016

Meeting called to order at 5:49pm by PTO President, India Kingery.
Members in attendance (7): Kim Sulecki, Mariah Vignali, Jamie Day, Christine Gainey, Heather Cheek, Shanon Lee, India Kingery.
Treasurer's Report presented by Shanon Lee:

Minutes from last meeting, 3/14/16, emailed and approved by all present. Motion: Shanon Lee, Second: Jamie Day.
Committee Reports
Cultural Arts: Money left for special projects. Concern using Elon for event because of reliability. Made mention of getting African dancers. To talk to Meyers for ideas.
Enrichment Programs: Bricks4Kids running through April 26. ~25 kids enrolled.
Hospitality: Teacher Appreciation Week May 2-6. Texas Roadhouse luncheon moved to Friday, May 6 to accommodate teacher lunchtimes. Tina Smith will need volunteers to provide dessert.
Membership/ Volunteers: No final number on Movie Night.
Paw Print: To be one more edition before year end.
Spirit Night: Firehouse Subs netted around $105, India would like to do a monthly Spirit Night. McDonald's/ Chick-fil-a? May date tbd.
Santa Shop: Benefit of using last year's vendor, Steve Martinelli, to get better pricing on Butter Braids and Fall Festival bouncy houses.
School Store: Plans to do a reduced-price sale to lower inventory.
Teacher Representatives: Heather Cheek asked committee to fund 2nd grade science incubation/ metamorphosis projects by buying incubators and butterfly growing nets. Motion by Shanon Lee to give $400 to project, Second: Jamie Day.
Hooks needed to hang ~40 ukulele instruments costing up to $80. Motion to purchase Christine Gainey, Second: Kim Sulecki.
Special Projects
· Dictionaries for 5th grade presented and delivered.
· Hometown Hero Week: Great feedback from our Hometown Heroes, parents, teachers, and staff. Costs around $400 for thank-you gift cards and lunch
· Technology Partnership: Would like to augment existing programs and add-
· Would like to create more club/ groups. Such as: Art Club, Stem Club, Glee Club, Fitness Club. Proposed to beef up Science Olympiad, Battle of the Books and give a stipend to teachers to facilitate.
· Possibility to secure PTO space in old 'Ag building'. Concern about asbestos.
· Earth Day is Friday, April 22. Campus Beautification project to be presented soon.
· The Big Dig Project to be a potential line item for 2016-2017 budget
· The Produce Box signups until April 15
· Officer Committees for 2016-2017: Not enough in attendance to firm up.
