Statistics
The Idaho Section was established in 1962 and subsequently renamed the Eastern Idaho Section in 2002. The section is co-headquartered in Pocatello, ID and Idaho Falls, ID. Section territory includes the sixteen counties of eastern Idaho. The Eastern Idaho Section has more than 200 active members.

Excom meetings are called by the Section Chair five times per year, and conducted in Blackfoot, ID, which is located 25 miles from both Pocatello and Idaho Falls.
Section Meetings
Section meetings are conducted about monthly, during lunch or dinner, and among the cities of Pocatello, Idaho Falls, and Blackfoot. Some meetings are conducted jointly with the Eastern Idaho Engineering Council (EIEC).
During 2006, the Eastern Idaho Section conducted ?? professional, technical, or educational meetings. Attendance ranged from ?? to ??? persons.
During National Engineers Week, the Section conducted the MathCounts competition in conjunction with the EIEC. MathCounts is a mathematics competition among student teams from middle schools in Southeast Idaho. ?? teams were represented by the schools.
In conjunction with EIEC, the Section held an All-Engineers Christmas Party. ?? persons attending representing seven engineering societies.
Excom members attended the Region 6 PACE meeting and OPCOM meeting.
Membership Development
The Section recruits new members at section meetings, and provides forms and information to prospective members. The Section performs an email promotion for Senior Membership applications. Forms will be made available to members.
Awards
During the Engineers Week meeting, an award of Outstanding Engineer is recognized in conjunction with Idaho State University. The Section also publicizes IEEE international awards and seeks nominations. A Section Leaders Award Banquet was held in June to recognize the section volunteers and new senior members.
Student Branch
The ISU Student Branch has about 25 active members. The members conduct an electric car contest as part of the National Engineers Week festivities, and participate in selection of the Outstanding Engineer. Several meetings with professional speakers are held during the school year. Some members also participate in the Steel Bridge contest, the Concrete Canoe contest, and the Clean Snowmobile contest.
The BYU-I Student Branch was formed in 2004 and has about 20 active members.
Professional Activities
Other activities include support of FIRST Lego and Future Cities competitions.
Previous years Professional Activities have included technical writing workshops focused on technical presentations and technical resumes, a tour and presentation of the Idaho National Laboratory Unmanned Aerial Vehicle program, FIRST Lego, and the Future Cities competition.

Library
The Section maintains an IEEE Library, in the ISU College of Engineering building. It contains copies of Spectrum, various Transactions, and other publications of interest to ISU students and faculty members.

The Section publishes an annual directory of Officers, committee chairs, Region 6 Officers, and student branch officers.
