M E M O R A N D U M
Sub : Revised guidelines determining regarding normal life of state government vehicles to be taken into consideration before condemnation and disposal.
In supercession of all previous orders including memorandaum no. 11495 dated 30.09.1988 of the then Home (transport) Department, in the matter of determination of the normal age of the state government vehicles to be taken into consideration while condemning them before disposal, the Governor has been pleased to approve the following revised guidelines in the matter to be followed in respect of every government vehicle.
Category of vehicle Normal life of the vehicle
(a) Motor vehicles above 3 (three) tons - 4 (four) lakh kilometers or 8(eight) years of age
(b) Motor vehicles above 1 (one) ton and - 3 (three) lakh kilometers or 8(eight) years of age
3 (three) tons.
(c) Motor cars (4-wheelers), Jeep, - 2.5 (two and half) lakh kilometers or 8(eight) years of age
Ambassador, Contessa, Tata Sumo.
Trekker etc.
(d) Motor Cycles - 75000 kilometers or 8 (eight) years of age.
2. The Governor has been pleased to decide that while condemning a vehicle on the basis of its use in years only, it should be ensured that the vehicle has rendered at least 90% of the recommended kilometerage. A technical report as regards the vehicle being beyond economic repair should be obtained before condemnation.
3. This issues with the concurrence of the Finance Department vide their U.O. No. Group ‘R’ 426 dated 02.11.2004.
