What do you need for the climb we call life? Explore & learn this year how to enjoy and handle the climb through faith & practice…

Requirements:

1. A notebook/laptop for taking notes and doing homework in.

2. A binder with loose leaf paper to use as your Journal Book (separate from English class)

3. Textbook needs to be brought to each class.

4. Come having your homework completed and ready to participate.

5. Arrive on time and in complete uniform. Accumulative lates will result in detention.

6. Upon arriving in class immediately take out your Homework & Journal and share with your partner/quad the previous night’s assignment; create your Main Ideas & Journal Question.

7. Open attitude and active participation in discussion and projects.

Assessment:

10% Homework

- I expect homework to be completed on time. Review questions may be answered in a notebook or on your lap top. To make studying easier also make any Lists you find and create a section for Vocabulary (anything in BOLD-HINT, HINT- this is where I usually take the information for the Matching Section for the Quiz/Test). If you are absent make an appointment to see me to show me your work. Materials may be e-mailed to me.

Upon arrival you will share your homework with your partner/quad & write down 3 Main Ideas. You will write these on a separate piece of paper & hand in on loose leaf paper. You will also share any Journal Question that may have been assigned as homework.

10% Participation: This includes:

-Having your homework done (if it’s not done you can’t participate)

-Referring to my material and not doing work for another teacher during my class *

-Cell phone off and not visible (See Agenda for School Cell Phone Policy) *

-Proper use of the lap top *

-Raising your hand and joining in the discussion

*repeat offences will result in detention

Each quarter you will grade yourself on Participation/Homework using a Participation/Homework Rubric. This will account for 20% of your grade

20% Quizzes

30% Tests (May contain all or some of the following: objective questions, multiple choice, matching, fill in the blank, short essay). The typical breakdown is…

-80-90 % will be the questions as stated above.

-10-20% will be an essay.

Absent for a Test/Quiz

-If you absent for one day and it is the day of a test/quiz, you will take it in class the first day you are back. If you are out for an extended period of time, when you return see me about making up anything that you missed.

30% Project

-One or both quarters will have a project which will be assigned at the beginning of the quarter with a due date. If there is no Project the above percentages will change.

Late Assignments: In order for you to move along with the material, assignments are due the day given, unless otherwise discussed. If the assignment is late points will be deducted.

Academic Honesty: Our school has a policy of Academic honesty. If students are found guilty of cheating or other serious infractions they will be referred to the Dean of Students, Mrs. Hals.

E-Mailing:

When e-mailing please put your name and section in the Subject Line. As you well know, there is a lot of spam out there so if your name and section are not in the Subject Line I will not open an e-mail. In the body of the e-mail type what you are sending me. Most people send things as an attachment. If you do not get a reply within 24 hours then I did not receive your e-mail. My e-mail is
