Exercise Together
Want to feel better, have more energy, andenrich your relationships? Exercise together. The American Heart Association recommends we get 30 minutes of moderate to vigorous exercise, five days a week. With a little planning, making time to exercise with your family members, friends, and colleagues can deepen your relationships and keep you motivated to move.
Here are five ideas to be active together:
- Make fitness social. “Happy Hour” can be a long walk or a yoga class with a friend you would like to spend more time with. Exercising alongside one of your closest friends is a not only a great way to catch up, it relieves stress and makes the workout fly by.
- Eco- friendly transportation can yield many personal advantages. Plan extra time to ride a bike or walk to the grocery store rather than drive. Simply going for a walk is the easiest way to incorporate exercise into your day. Try reenergizing your day by spending one of your scheduled work breaks walking outside with a coworker
- Get your kids involved. Have a dance party or play an activity-based game on your gaming console.Set up a kickball tournament with the neighbors at a nearby park.
- Plant a garden. Whether you choose fruits and vegetables or some pretty flowers, get the family involved in a gardening project. They'll get some brisk exercise while digging, planting, and weeding. Then the whole family can enjoy the fruits of their labor with fresh produce and cut flowers.
- Make time to play. Set aside 30 minutes, three times a week, to do fun exercises with your kids or run around with the dog. Make it a part of your after-school or after-dinner routine.
