First Grade Feats

November 13, 2009

Happy November Birthday to:

Savannah Hylton – Nov.10th

McKenzie Elrod – Nov. 15th

Chip Scott – Nov. 17th

Special Events:

Thanksgiving Holidays begin on Tuesday, November 24th at 3:20. The first grade does not have a party, but participates in Activity Afternoon. The children select one activity from a variety of activities such as arts and crafts, sports, talent show, etc.

Bulb Planting has been rescheduled once again for next Wednesday, November 18th. Please have your child bring a small trowel, labeled with their name, to help with the digging. If it is raining on this day, we will not be able to do the bulb planting this year.

First Graders and Seniors will decorate the school Christmas tree in a school wide program on December 2. This traditional event was begun with the Seniors of 1986, and it is a very meaningful and special time for both classes. We ask that the children wear their festive holiday attire for the program (uniform dress is always acceptable). Parents are invited and urged to attend.

Curriculum Update:

In Reading and Spelling we are working on long vowel sounds. I know that you are proud of all the progress that your child is making in this area.

We continue practicing addition and subtraction in Math.

The Nature Project is due Monday, November 30th. Thanks for all your help in collecting and preparing the booklets.

November Book-It Sheets are due on Tuesday, December 1st.

Reminders:

Please check your child’s supplies. Lots of children are running low on glue, pencils, crayons, and erasers.

Please LABEL all outwear that your child wears to school with their first and last names!!

Please do not send candy to school for snack!
