This year IAPS Basketball Championships was organised by Pete Daines from Yateley Manor School and hosted by ACS Cobham International School. Over 150 competitors experienced a fantastic day of Basketball against both UK and International Schools.
We were delighted to welcome the British School of Paris to the event for the first year. They arrived on Friday with King’s College Madrid and were able to have practice matches against ACS Cobham Basketball teams on Friday night.
King’s College Madrid also had a fantastic weekend – not only did they win the U11 competition and come runners up in the U13 event but two of their players were also awarded the U11 and U13 Most Valuable Player awards. The two boys were also brothers so their mother, who had travelled over with them, was extremely emotional and happy! We were delighted to welcome both international schools to our event this year and hope to encourage more international schools to our events in the future.
A huge thank you to Dave Schuter and ACS Cobham for hosting the event. The facilities were outstanding and proved a great venue for our competition. Thanks also goes to all of the referees and table officials who ensured the matches ran smoothly and fairly.
Finally, thank you to Pete Daines and Yateley Manor for organising IAPS Basketball competition 2017. It was another fantastic event for our member schools to enter.
