Why are we contacting you?

As part of Suffolk’s waste management plans for the next 15 years, SITA UK Ltd have applied to build an Energy from Waste (EfW) plant at Great Blakenham. EfW plants require both planning permission from the local authority (Suffolk County Council) and an Environmental Permit from us to be in place before the plant can start operating. The Environmental Permit would contain specific conditions and emission limits that must be complied with while the plant is operating.

Our role is to consider the environmental impacts the plant could have on human health, air, water, land, habitats and species of animals and plants. We also look at noise levels, energy efficiency and the sustainability of the plant.

What are we telling you about?
