Visitors will be able to buy IAR’s VisualState modelling system at a deep discount, and Chris Hills, Technical Director of Phaedrus Systems will be talking on “Debugging is difficult: So why do it?” In the exhibition theatre at 10.30 on Wednesday 1st October.

ESS 2008 marks the public re-launch of the UK’s specialist distributor oftools for developing safety critical, mission critical and high reliability embedded systems.

Putting together all the links in the tool chain for developing safety critical and high reliability systems can be difficult and time consuming. Phaedrus Systems has been established to help engineers with that task. The company represents a wide range of tool suppliers whose products meet the demanding requirements imposed by the military, aerospace, rail, nuclear and automotive industries. High level tools start with requirements specification to meet standards such as 61508, through project estimation and management to life cycle and variant management. Supporting these are code analysis and verification tools, compilers and RTOS, libraries, stacks and a range of hardware and IDE products.

However, ChrisHills, founder and technical director of Phaedrus Systems recognises that there are other tools that might be more appropriate to a specific project and has no hesitation in recommending these, based on his years of experience and membership of standards panels.

At ESS Phaedrus Systems will have representatives of the principals available for technical discussions as well as the usual coffee and doughnuts.

Chris will also be talking on Debugging is difficult: why do it? On Wednesday at 1030 am He will be explaining, in the same forthright manner that he uses in his ESE standards column each month. how the combination of a well managed process, appropriate training and good tools can ensure that bugs are either not introduced in the first place or if they do appear, how they can be removed easily.
