Memorandum of Understanding between University of Malaya and IMSciences

A Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) was recently signed between the University of Malaya, Malaysia and the Institute of Management Sciences, Peshawar. Director IMSciences, Dr.Mohsin Iqbal and Coordinator Acedemic Linkages and Exchange Program (ALEP) Mr.Sikandar Khan Tangi signed the MOU. The University of Malaya is one of the highest ranking universities in Asia. It also holds the distinction of being the first ever university of the country and is based in Kuala Lampur, the capital of Malaysia.

The MOU was signed in order for the two institutes to develop academic partnerships. Thus a mutual effort would help cater for different academic pursuits of both the Institutes. This will further help garner greater and versatile academic knowledge for IMSciences.

A Student Exchange Programme would be initiated by September, 2018 between the University of Malaya and IMSciences as per the MOU. Each university will exchange 2 students per year for the duration of the Agreement. The duration of the students’ stay at the host Institute would vary from one semester (6 months) to one year. Any alteration in these enrolment periods would only be allowed upon mutual agreement in writing by the Institutes. However the selected students would remain enrolled in their home institutions and would not be accepted for enrolment in any degree programmes at the host institution besides the Exchange Programme.

A comprehensive selection and screening process of candidates for the exchange programme would be carried out. Thereby the host Institution would reserve the right to determine the final selection and admission of each student nominated by the home Institution.

Moreover, the host Institution will provide all official documentation to the selected students which will help fulfil legal requirements for obtaining visa for the host country. The selected students would pay their usual fee to their home institution for the duration of their stay with the host institution. Similarly each selected student will be responsible for his or her own costs and expenses at the host institution. However the host institution would assist the exchange students in obtaining accommodation for the period of the Exchange Programme.

An active collaboration and greater cooperation between the two institutes may also lead to a faculty exchange programme. A joint research programme is also in the pipeline for the institutes, which will take effect after the partnership has matured further.
