Introduction
The Textbook adoptions website is designed for the use of ordering or “adopting” books required by a faculty member for their courses each semester. Once an adoption has been requested for a desired book, a copy of the request is made available to the GeorgiaStateUniversity bookstore, and external bookstores. The requested books are ordered for that course for the current semester.
Getting Started
Obtain a UserId and Password by filling out the form located at or by calling the GSU Bookstore at 404-651-2155
  • Enter UserId and Password
  • Click on “Log In” button

Entering Course Information
  • After logging on successfully, the next screen with the prefix of the course being taught for the semester (e.g. ENGL or Math or PSYC etc.)
  • Select the current semester that you are adopting books for from the drop down box. (e.g. Fall)
  • Enter the course number for the subject prefix (e.g. ENGL 2110 or Math 1113 or PSYC 3110 etc.)
  • Click on Submit


  • Once the appropriate course number (e.g. Engl 2110) has been selected you will now be able to select the correct section of a course by choosing the computer number (e.g. Engl 2110 comp# 2287)
  • To adopt a book for the selected course click on the appropriate computer number



Adopting Books for Selected Course
  • After the computer number is selected books can now be adopted
  • Add a book for the selected course by clicking on the link “add a book to be used for this section.


  • There are three-steps to follow in order to adopt a book for a course.

Step One
  • A list of all books that the course may require will be displayed.
  • Click on the white square box next to the title of the listed books to choose that book.
  • More than one book may be chosen at a time, as required for the course.

  • Book titles can be edited or deleted from the list, by clicking on the appropriate icon to the right of each title.
  • If a book that is required for a course does not appear on the list, it can be added to the list by scrolling to the bottom of the list; there is an “add a new book to the above list” button.
  • In order to add a new book to the list, the following information is required: title, author, publisher, edition, and ISBN#.

  • Once all the required information have been entered, click on the add book button.
  • A confirmation screen will appear, then click on the “list” link the new book title will be added to the book list.
  • If all required books have been selected for a course, click the submit button, at the bottom of the entire list of books.

Step Two

  • The option to make the books that have been adopted from the list either Required or Suggested for the course.

Step Three

  • Adding adopted books to other sections (computer numbers) of the course that have been previously selected.

  • Once all book adoptions are completed a preview of the ordered books are shown.
  • An adoption number is also displayed for the books that have been added to the selected course (e.g. A3208)
  • This number will be used for future adoptions that may be necessary for that course.
