Dear Families,
I want to officially welcome all of you to the 2012-2013 School Year! Summer has come and gone and now it is time to continue with the excellent traditions of Lindley Middle School, as well as to introduce exciting new programs and personnel. Lindley, fresh off of a banner year of student performance, has been busy preparing for another amazing year. Over the summer break the school has been cleaned and our custodial staff worked hard for a fresh and clean start. Our dedicated staff has been working hard to ensure a successful start of the school year.
This will be my first year as principal of Lindley, and I am thrilled at the opportunity to get to know all of you and engage in the educational process together. As the new principal of Lindley, it has been my sincere pleasure and honor to become a member of this great school community. Lindley enjoys a rich history of academic and cultural excellence that is the result of a collegial partnership between the school staff and parents who provide a diversity of experiences for the students. The middle school years are critical times of development for students and families alike, and I look forward to working with all of you to make this year successful. I am a lifelong educator who brings a firm commitment to students and families as well as a love of learning and problem solving. I have taught at the elementary and as an instructor at Tulane University ROTC program and served as an elementary school principal, I look forward to building lasting relationships with each and every member of the Lindley community.
ARRIVAL TIMES:
Our school day begins at 9:15 a.m. every day. Please be sure to have your child/children here on time.Students who are consistently tardy are at a clear disadvantage and usually arrive feeling frantic and unprepared. All students who arrive after 9:15 a.m. must sign in at the office with a parent.
SCHOOL LUNCHES:
School lunches will be served starting the first day of school. Students who were approved for a free or reduced lunch last year will remain eligible for the first month of school until new applications are completed.New applications must be submitted for the new school year.Menus, prepayments, and other pertinent lunch information can be accessed on line.
INSTRUCTIONAL PROGRAMS:
General: Our programs each year are exciting and structured to ensure that all our kids continue to receive a well-rounded and challenging education. Our standards and expectations remain high! We will start this year with our Common Core standards in some subject areas. As always, our number one goal is providing our students with a quality educational experience in a safe, caring and nurturing environment. All our instructors are fully credentialed while professional development and collaborative opportunities are built into our yearly schedule. Our curricular program is aligned to the Georgia State Standards. My greatest initiative is toprovide differentiated instruction to meet the needs of each student to the best of our ability. The educational program must be academically challenging, engage each student by linking the curriculum to previous knowledge and experience, and also be exciting to promote further exploration of new ideas.
