Seminar Description:
This seminar is based on a successful DVD series for parents struggling with common behavior problems of their children. The developers of the DVD series will present vignettes, lead discussion, and conduct demonstration and practice sessions of parenting techniques that you can teach to parents you work with. (Includes 7 CEUs)
Objectives:
Participants will be able to:
Identify and discuss the philosophy of the SMP model
Explain the six core SMP strategies used to change common behavior problems
Name the operational steps to SMP behavior change techniques
Demonstrate use of SMP strategies for proactive parenting and positive discipline
Demonstrate how to teach parents SMP strategies that change the environment to change child behavior in a methodical pattern
Summarize the outcome data from the study of the SMP model
List and compare techniques for home-based interventions and live-class teaching
Explain the utility and application of the supplemental materials that are available to accompany the SMP instructive DVD’s

About the Speakers:
Karin Torsiello, M.S., B.C.B.A.
Karin achieved her Master of Science degree in Applied Behavior Analysis from Florida Institute of Technology in 2000 and became a Board Certified Behavior Analyst that same year. She currently is the President of Behavior Basics Inc., a consulting firm in Florida, and is also the Director of Operations for Advantage Behavioral Group. For seven years she served as the Senior Behavior Analyst with the USF Behavior Analysis Services Program, in partnership with the Department of Children and Families. She has over 12 years experience working with caregivers of clients with mental health, behavioral, and developmental issues.
Angelique Walsh, M.A., B.C.B.A.
Angelique Walsh received her M.A. in Psychology with a specialization in Applied Behavior Analysis from the University of Nevada in 2003. She worked seven years for USF on the state-wide Behavior Analysis Services Program, providing parent training for DCF-involved families and conducting research on program effectiveness. She enjoys her current work as an online instructor for FL Tech and her dual role at Behavior Basics, Inc.as a Behavior Analyst, consulting with community agencies and families, and as Director of Instructional Design. She also recently joined the team at Advantage Behavioral Group.
