Whatisreferencing?
It isthe important processof formally acknowledging another person’sideasused inconstructingyouressaysorreports.

Whenyourefertoanotherpieceofworkyoumustalwaysacknowledgethesourceofthatinformation.

Whatisplagiarism?
Plagiarismisaterm usedinacademiafor passingoffotherpeople’s workas
yourown.Thisincludesmaterialorideasfromanysources,whetherwritten,onlinematerialorideasfromotherstudentsoracademicstaff.
TheUniversityofDundeeusedSafeAssignsoftwaretocheckallsubmittedcourseworkforplagiarism.Penaltiesareimposedonanyonefoundtohaveplagiarisedwhetherintentionallyornot.
Goodreferencingisthebestwaytoavoidaccusationsofplagiarism.
