JUNE 9-11, 2017 TOURNAMENT RULES

1) There is no new inning after 2 hours and 10 minutes in all games, except for the Championship and semi-final games on June 11th.

2) There is an 8 run rule after 5 innings, 12 runs after 4 and 20 runs after 3 in all games except the June 11th semi-final games and championship game at WSU.

3) There is a pro DH rule where the pitcher is the only position that can be DHed for.

4) A slide and avoid rule will be enforced. Runner must be within arm’s length of the base.

5) The home team book is the official game book.

6) Each team can use an EH (Extra Hitter) at 10 hitters in the lineup.

7) Courtesy runners are allowed for catchers only, but not mandatory.

8) There is no re-entry for a player removed from the lineup.

9) There are -3 restrictions for all bats and must be BBCore certified. All non -3 bats will be excluded from tournament competition.

10) Players must have been born on or after May 1, 2000. Any player born before this date is not eligible. Please be prepared to show verification of player age if questioned. Ineligible players participating in tournament games will result in forfeiture of those games participated in.

11) The American League Big Book covers all rules not discussed here.

12) Absolutely NO sunflower seeds are allowed on the field or in the dugout at WSU, per WSU Athletic Department policy. A $50.00 fee will be imposed on the spot if sunflower seeds are found on the field or in the dugout. The fee must be paid before the next game is to be played by the offending team. No warning is necessary to impose fee.

13) Team listed first for each pool play game is home team and will occupy third base dugout.

14) The winners of each pool will be the top three seeds. The # 4 see will be a runner up from one of the 3 pools. The #4 seed will be determined by winning percentage first and then we will use the tie breakers below if necessary. These three teams will then be seeded by winning percentage, and if needed, the below tie breakers. The #1 seed will play the #4 seed at the Bailey-Brayton semi-final and the #2 and #3 seeded teams will play in the other semi-final at McDonald Park in Colfax. If the #1 seed and the #4 seed are from the same pool, the #2 seed and the #1 seed will switch and the #1 seed and the #3 seeds will play at Bailey-Brayton and the #2 seed and the #4 see will play at McDonald park for the semi-finals, this way we can avoid the same teams playing each other twice until the championship game. The remaining eight teams will then be seeded using the same criteria – winning percentage, and if needed, the below tie breakers. All June 11th matchups will be determined the night of June 10th and be posted at the WSU field main gate and on the Palouse Summer Series Facebook page, twitter page and web page message board. It is the responsibility of all teams to check the WSU field main gate or any of the pages for the June 11th game schedule. The team with the best winning percentage will be the home team and occupy the third base dugout for all June 11th games. In the case of two teams having the same record, the below tie breakers will be used:
