Facilities Manager

Job Description

The duties of the Facilities manager shall be to preserve, protect, maintain, operate and repair the entire physical property and facilities of Camp Maria Retreat Center. The facilities manager is responsible for all aspects of site maintenance.

These duties are performed in accordance with the mission, policies and procedures of Camp Maria Retreat Center and following all appropriate rules, regulations and laws.

This is a fulltime salary position. It is anticipated that the facilities manager will be on duty following a regular schedule and at other times as assigned by the director. This will include weekend duties.

The facilities manager will be on call for availability to respond to emergencies that affect the program operations, security and/or continued operation of life support and safety components of all property and buildings.

The facilities manager will be available at all times during scheduled work hours and after hours.

Qualifications:

Three years of experience in the areas of facilities, maintenance or related fields. Experience in the area of personnel management and administrative skills including basic computer skills. A certificate from a college or technical school and/or related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience will also be considered. Candidate must have a collaborative leadership style, hospitable and comfortable relationships with persons of all faiths and cultures.

  • Experience in general maintenance planning and skills.

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedural manuals. Ability to communicate both verbally and in writing with director and staff, vendors, contractors, professional repairpersons and guests.

  • Ability to work with contractors and vendors to obtain bids, services and other information pertaining to repairs or servicing the property.
  • Ability to put together written proposals.
  • Hold a valid driver’s license and clean record.
  • Ability to work under adverse weather conditions (rain, snow, heat etc.) Ability to take proper precautions for self and those working under your supervision as the job requires: working at heights, working with machinery, fumes and risk of electrical shock.

Duties: Actual work will include but not limited:

 Provide vision and direction to Camp Maria Retreat Center Maintenance program.

 Work with the Director and other staff to develop, update and carry out comprehensive maintenance plan for facilities, grounds and equipment.

 Responsible for maintaining a budget as set by the Director for overall maintenance. This budget will cover regular and on-going maintenance needs for the facilities, grounds and equipment.

 Work with the Director and staff to develop plans and schedules for Maintenance Department.

 Develop monthly and weekly maintenance plans following CMRC maintenance schedules to address the needs of the retreat center, staff and guests.

 Keep accurate and comprehensive maintenance records on facilities and equipment.

 Insures the quality of Camp Maria’s readiness for groups by preparing all buildings, dock and other areas (depending on the group’s needs) prior to groups’ arrival. Set up the room or space if necessary according to the group’s needs.

 Give direction and oversight to maintenance department workers.

 Work with the Director to have a plan of coverage in place for weekend groups.

 Inventory all tools, machinery and equipment.

 Awareness of environmental laws and health codes. Follows recommendations of health department/environmental professionals to support compliance

 Oversees the opening and closing of the pool, maintaining throughout the summer months.

 Ensures that pool meets health department standards.

 Inspect all work done on facilities and grounds to see that it meets standards.

 Minor Mechanical repair of equipment

 Minor plumbing repairs

 Minor electrical repairs

 Structural repairs to exterior siding, interior walls/ceiling, woodwork, doors, windows, fireplaces etc.

 Keeping the buildings freshly painted, interior and exterior

 Minor repairs/maintenance/painting of swimming pool, pool lift, pool house, birdbath and all connected areas

 Minor repairs/maintenance/ painting of all buildings: pump houses, garage and all out buildings, all cabins and lodging buildings, the Spiritual Center, Dining Hall, Blue Jay, Osprey House an Bay House.

 Maintains the floors in the Spiritual Center, Dining Hall and cabins.

 Maintains and provides safe storage of all equipment, including canoes, tables, chairs, pool furniture etc.
