Kanawha County Schools Swing Sing

On Sunday Nov.16, Kanawha County Schools annual Swing Sing was held at the Municipal Auditorium in Charleston, WV. All eight county high school show choirs performed for a very large and enthusiastic crowd of supporters. Schools that participated were Nitro, Herbert Hoover, Riverside, George Washington, Sissonville, South Charleston, St. Albans, and Capital. This event is a non-competition showcase where groups have the chance to perform in front of an audience before their busy competition seasons begin. Different styles of song were presented including contemporary hits like Bruno Mars’ “I Wanna to be a Billionaire” and “Royals” by Lorde - to older classics Like “Singin’ in the Rain” and “Danny Boy”. Over 350 students participated in Swing Sing this year as the event marked its 40th anniversary! Ticket proceeds were divided among the eight vocal music departments and are used to directly benefit the students of Kanawha County.
