KEYNOTE SPEAKER The Rev. Dr. Lisa Wolfe

Lisa M. Wolfe is Professor of the Endowed Chair of Hebrew Bible at Oklahoma CityUniversity, where she started teaching in fall 2007.

Lisa grew up in northeastern Ohio, in the city of Stow. She received her BA in

Psychology from the University of Colorado in Boulder in 1990, where she was active in the Wesley Foundation. She received her M.Div. from United Theological Seminary in Dayton, OH in 1996, and was ordained in the United Church of Christ in 2000. Over the years she has served more than six different churches and numerous church camps, specializing in Youth Ministry, Christian Education, and Interim Ministry.

Lisa received her Ph.D. in Hebrew Bible from NorthwesternUniversity’s joint program with Garrett-Evangelical Theological Seminary in Religious and Theological Studies in July of 2003. At that time, she became Assistant Professor of Old Testament at United Theological Seminary in Dayton, OH, where she later served as Director of the Harriet L. Miller Women's Center, Academic Program Coordinator, and Lecturer in Old Testament and Women's Studies.

Wolfe's areas of expertise include Wisdom Literature, in particular Ecclesiastes, and women in the Hebrew Bible. In 2010 Living the Questions released Lisa's DVD Bible Study series, "Uppity Women of the Bible." Cascade Press published the companion book to that series, "Ruth, Esther, Song of Songs and Judith" in 2011. The title of a February 2012 book review in Sojourners magazine gave it the catchier title "Widow, Queen, Lover, Warrior" and noted that "Wolfe explores in detail and readable prose the stories of some of the 'uppity women' of the Hebrew Bible and Apocrypha." In addition, Lisa has authored over thirty entries for TheNew Interpreter’s Dictionary ofthe Bible, which she fondly dubs her "bad words of the Bible" project. Currently Lisa is working on a book project on Ecclesiastes. Above all, Lisa enjoys teaching on these topics and others not only at OCU, but also in local churches of various denominations.

Lisa is a member of Church of the Open Arms United Church of Christ in Oklahoma City, OK. Lisa and her husband Fred Mischler have two children who keep them busy with reading books, running around the backyard, and taking trips to the science museum, zoo, playground, and grandparents' house.

She and the participants will focus on these particular ministries: Pastoral Care, Outreach, i.e. serving people in our towns and cities, and Hospitality.

Pastor Janie was at St Michael's, Norman and teaching 9th graders at West Mid-High, when God's call to priesthood arrived in her life. Following the Seminary of the Southwest in Austin, she served All Saints, Austin and St. Mary's, Edmond.
