2.Library
Knowing how to find and use information effectively is vital to your study here at the OUHK and your lifelong learning. The OUHK Library provides you quality information resources and services and helps you to acquire information skills. Here, you can find course set books, course materials, course-related audio-visual materials, monographs, journals and reference materials.
The Electronic Library at <http://www.lib.ouhk.edu.hk> provides abundant learning resources including full-text e-books, e-journals, e-news, databases, reference resources, past examination papers / specimen examination papers and supplementary readings. The Electronic Library can be accessed 24 hours a day.
Library staff are happy to assist you in using our services and resources. We offer library guides, orientation programmes, and workshops throughout the year to help you. You can also visit our Library homepage at <http://www.lib.ouhk.edu.hk> or the OUHK website (Student) for details.

3.Self-study Room
On-campus self-study rooms are located in room A0316 on the 3rd floor of the OUHK campus as well as in room T20 of the OUHK Island Learning Centre (ILC). Their opening hours are:

4.Student Common Room
A Student Common Room located in room A0315 on the 3rd floor of the Homantin campus is set up for the purpose of students’ group discussion. Its opening hours are 9:00 am – 12:00 midnight daily.
5.Computing Facilities and Laboratories
Courses with a practical computing component will normally have timetabled computer laboratory sessions. Free-access computing facilities are also available at the OUHK campus and ILC for general use by students. The PC Labs are equipped with PCs as well as diverse, popular PC applications and course-specific software. The latest 'Registration and Booking Policies' are displayed at the entrance of the Labs.

6.Catering
The on-campus OU Club is operated by Asia Pacific Catering Corporation Limited, which provides snacks, sandwiches, re-heated food and beverages to staff and students of the University at discount prices. The service of the Club is monitored by the Catering Committee. Students are welcome to voice their opinions regarding the catering service directly to the Caterer or through the Catering Committee.
The current opening hours of the Club are 7:30 am - 9:00 pm daily.
7.Booking of Lecture Theatres, Halls, Computer Labs and Tutorial Rooms
Lecture theatres, halls, computer labs and tutorial rooms are primarily for teaching and academic purposes. Students may make use of these facilities during non-scheduled hours to hold discussions or organize activities related to their courses by submitting applications directly to the Administration and Accommodation Unit, or by calling 2768 6210 within office hours. Booking charges must normally be paid prior to the event.
8.Lost and Found Property
A list of lost and found items will be posted monthly on notice boards in the campus building as well as on the OUHK homepage. In case of lost and found property, students may contact the Administration and Accommodation Unit at 2768 6215 for assistance.
9.Safety and Security on Campus
For security purposes, students on campus may be asked by the campus security guard to show their Student ID Cards to prove their identity. Students are responsible for their own belongings while on campus.
While on campus, students are strongly advised to read the fire escape routes on the floor plans and familiarize themselves with those routes and the procedures to be taken in case of fire or emergency. This information is posted on the notice boards on campus.
10.Emergency Call Service
In case of an emergency or accident on campus, students may contact the security control room by calling the 24-hour emergency contact telephone numbers 2768 6260 or 2624 5767, or they may go directly to the security control room, which is located at room P16 on the Podium level (behind the Information Centre).
11.Student Activities
The University encourages students to organize student bodies and supports themin organizing student-related activities that enrich their campus life and broaden their horizons. The University has been providing funding and other support for student activities directly through the Committee on Student Affairs and the Student Affairs Office (SAO). Currently there are13 student groups and an Alumni Association which have been granted OUHK's recognition and funding; they organize various activities, including dragon boat racing, seminars, outings and participation in Hong Kong Management Game.
A Student Activity Centre is established in room P19 on G/F at the OUHK campus to enhance the University's support to student societies and activities. The Centre aims at providing a communal area with office equipment and support for use by student societies, thus facilitating the University's support to them in their operation and organization of activities.

12.Assistance to Students with Disabilities
Students with disabilities are encouraged to contact the Programme Leaderfor advice before enrolling a programme.
After registering for a programme, you should notify your Programme Leader/ lecturer or the SAO if you need special arrangements to help you with assignments, classes and examinations. It may be possible to deliver a disk or enlarged version of the course materials, arrange a suitable lecture/tutorial/examination venue, and provide examination papers with large print or in Braille, etc.
The Disabled Student Centre, located inside the Library, is well equipped with special learning equipment donated by The Hong Kong Jockey Club Charities Trust, The S K Yee Medical Foundation and The Sir Robert Ho Tung Charitable Fund. Besides using the equipment at the centre, students can also borrow some items for use.
The OUHK allows some flexibility in terms of arrangements for students with disabilities. However, students with disabilities or special needs will be assessed by the same academic performance measures as other OUHK students.
The SAO of the Registry is responsible for the overall coordination and provision of services for students with disabilities. Please contact the staff at 2768 6634 or email or fax 3018 7011 for details.
13.Student Financial Awards
- Financial Assistance Scheme for Post-secondary Students (FASP)
Full-time students aged 25 or below may apply for the Financial Assistance Scheme for Post-secondary Students (for tuition fees). Application Forms are available from the FTP/ the Registry. For details, please contact Student Financial Assistance Agency (SFAA) directly at tel: 2152 9000 (during office hours) / 2802 2345 (24 hours) or visit their website at <http://www.sfaa.gov.hk/eng/schemes/fasp.htm>.
- Non-means Tested Loan Scheme for Post-secondary Students (NLSPS)
Full-time students aged 25 or below may also apply for the NLSPS (for tuition fees and basic living expenses).Application forms are available from the FTP Office/ the Registry. For details, please contact the SFAA of the Government directly at tel: 2152 9000 (during office hours) / 2802 2345 (24 hours) or visit their website at <http://www.sfaa.gov.hk/eng/schemes/nls3.htm>.
- Student Travel Subsidy for Post-secondary Students
Students who are eligible to apply for assistance under FASP and wish to apply for student travel subsidy should apply for it through FASP application by completing Part E of the application form. For details, please contact SFAA directly at tel: 2152 9000 (during office hours) / 2802 2345 (24 hours) or visit their website at <http://www.info.gov.hk/sfaa/eng/schemes/travel.htm>.
- Continuing Education Fund (CEF)
Students who have enrolled for an approved CEF course may apply to the Office of the CEF to open a personal continuing education account before the first semester commences (20 September 2005). Upon successful completion of the course (obtaining an overall pass result and gaining the respective number of credits), the applicant will be reimbursed 80% of the course fee or $10,000, whichever is less. For details, please contact the Office of the CEF at tel: 3142 2277. For details on OUHK approved courses and related procedures, please contact the FTP Office/ the Registry at 2768 6658/27686636.
Successful CEF applicants will be allowed two opportunities to claim reimbursement within two years from the date the application was approved. The account for the applicant will be closed once the second reimbursement has been made or when the full sum of HK$10,000 has been drawn or at the end of the two year period notwithstanding any unclaimed balance remaining in the account. Therefore, OUHK students who are successful CEF applicants should take note of their respective approval date and expiry date for claiming reimbursement. They should also be aware that any suspension in their studies, including deferment of studies or any assessment components of a course, sitting the examination and/or the requirement to resit the examination, would mean that the completion date of the course would be deferred. It is the CEF applicant's responsibility to observe the two-year period and check with the Office of the CEF on the related procedures for special circumstances.
- OUHK credit card Interest-free Tuition Loan (IFTL)
Students who are OUHK credit card holders can apply for the Wing Hang Bank’s six-month or ten-month interest-free instalment loan to pay for the tuition fee. Enquiries can be made to Wing Hang Bank (Tel: 2543 2223).
- Wah Kiu Yat Po Reader’s Loan Fund for Post-secondarySchool Students
Students who have a total monthly family income not more than HK$25,000 may apply for this loan fund. Application forms can be obtained from (1) OUHK FTP Office/the Registry; (2) G/F, 22 Dai Fat Street, 4/F, Morning Post Centre, Tai Po Industrial Estate; and (3) Dymocks Booksellers (Central). Enquiries should be made to the Wah Kiu Yat Po Readers’ Loan Fund at 4/F, Morning Post Centre, 22 Dai Fat Street , Tai Po Industrial Estate or call 2680 8841.
- Scholarship
A number of scholarships donated by commercial organizations, firms, and individuals will be awarded to students who have outstanding academic achievements at OUHK. They are normally awarded through recommendation on the basis of academic merits each year.
14.MTR Student Travel Scheme
“Application for Personalized Octopus Card with “student status” and Activation/ Removal of “student status” on Personalized Octopus Card” is available at any MTR customer service center (except Airport Express Line) and the OUHK FTP Office. Full-time students aged 25 or below may apply. Students should go to the FTP Office during office hours to process verification of student status. Students should submit the endorsed application form to the MTR Station (except Airport Express). For details, please refer to the application procedure in MTR Student Travel Scheme Application Form (Academic year 2005/2006) or contact the MTR Student Travel Scheme hotline at 2993 3350.

17.Programme Requirements
Students are required to comply with the Programme Requirements of their registered programme during the course of study. For instance, students who have not achieved a pass in the course after resit are required to retake the course. Different mode of study options for the retake (possibly with an additional charge) might be available for students. The Programme Requirements will be distributed separately soon.
