entry information: Recommended: prior credit for Unit 5702, Inspect and assess market acceptability of insects and fungi in forest produce for export; or demonstrate equivalent knowledge and skills.

accreditation option: Evaluation of documentation and visit by NZQA and industry.

moderation option: A centrally established and directed national moderation system has been set up by Forest Industries Training.

special notes: 1 The term forest produce includes but is not limited to - roundwood, logs, sawn timber, wood chips, packaging, dunnage, and manufactured wood items.

element 1

Identify the phytosanitary requirements of importing countries.

Range: includes but is not limited to - USA, Australia, New Caledonia, China, Philippines.

performance criteria

1.1 The specified importing country is identified from the export documentation.

1.2 Information on the website is interpreted for the specified importing country.

1.3 Sterilisation requirements for timber, logs, manufactured wooden articles, board products, wooden packaging, and wood chips are identified for the specified importing country from the website.

1.4 The type and level of infections that are prohibited by the importing country are identified from the website.

element 2

Demonstrate knowledge of the requirements for phytosanitary certification of forest produce for a specified importing country.

performance criteria

2.1 The sources of information required for the phytosanitary certificate are identified from the website.

2.2 Information on the phytosanitary certificate is recorded to the requirements of the website.

element 3

Reconcile phytosanitary certificates with inspection records.

performance criteria

3.1 Information on phytosanitary certificates is reconciled with inspection records provided by exporters.

Range: exporters in the Quality Assurance Scheme, non-quality assurance scheme exporters, exporters of manufactured products.

3.2 Documentation discrepancies are identified and dealt with according to the requirements of the Export Procedures Manual.

4.1 Phytosanitary certificates for non-conforming forest produce are cancelled.

4.2 Exporters are notified of cancelled phytosanitary certificates, according to the requirements of the Export Procedures Manual.

4.3 Remedial treatments required for export conformance are recommended.

4.4 Remedial treatments are monitored and documented.
